Ground-state properties of the deformable jellium

Physical Review A, 1989
A self-consistent calculation is done to evaluate relevant ground-state properties of the electron gas in the deformable-jellium model. We get the melting point of the Wigner crystal and the ground-state energy per particle at all densities. The single-particle state function in the Slater determinant is expanded in a basis of periodic functions.

Ground Deformation, Gravity, and Magnetics

open access: yes, 2015
Volcanic eruptions are preceded by the upward migration of magma, and sometimes by the long-term accumulation of magma in the shallow subsurface. Upward migration of magma causes pressure changes within magma or hydrothermal fluid reservoirs, which cause

The ground-state deformation of98Sr

Zeitschrift fr Physik A Atomic Nuclei, 1987
The half-life of the first excited state (21+) of98Sr has been determined through the measurement of delayed γ-γ coincidences at the fission product separator OSTIS to t1/2=2.74(12) ns. This value is smaller than those obtained earlier from β− — conversion electron delayed coincidences and it indicates a stronger collectivity of the 21+→01+ transition ...

Ground Deformation from Ground-Based SAR Interferometry

2013
An in-depth analysis of the last two images acquired by the ground-based interferometric synthetic aperture radar system installed on Stromboli before the 5 April 2003 explosion allowed us to detect the precursory signals of the explosion related to ground deformation.

The Variability of Deformation Demand with Ground Motion Intensity

Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Computational Stochastic Mechanics(CSM-6), 2011
Abstract The use of Nonlinear Dynamic Analyses is coupled to the demands produced by earthquakes of different intensities. The uncertainties associated with the demands are highly dependent on the variable adopted as the intensity measure (IM). This generates the need to compare different IMs and in particular the dispersion of the demand measure in ...
