SIMULATION OF WAKE VORTEX AIRCRAFT IN GROUND EFFECT [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2011
The problem developed in this paper is encountered in airplane aerodynamics and concernsthe influence of long life longitudinal wake vortices generated by wing tips or by external obstaclessuch as reactors or landing gears.

Condensation of Ideal Bose Gas Confined in a Box Within a Canonical Ensemble

open access: yes, 2007
We set up recursion relations for the partition function and the ground-state occupancy for a fixed number of non-interacting bosons confined in a square box potential and determine the temperature dependence of the specific heat and the particle number ...

Cognitive Functioning in Vorinostat‐Treated Pediatric and Young Adult Patients Over the First 180 Days After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cognitive and psychological difficulties could negatively interfere with treatment adherence and quality of life before and after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Methods to mitigate these changes may have positive effects on treatment success.

Ground instability effects

open access: yes
This chapter is conceived to describe methodologies for the generation of scenarios having as effects ground deformation processes (landslides, subsidence and underground cavity collapses) triggered by different inputs. Special attention has been devoted to products for the aware management of the territory and to define strategies for the community ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The Application of the Modified Lindstedt–Poincaré Method to Solve the Nonlinear Vibration Problem of Exponentially Graded Laminated Plates on Elastic Foundations

open access: yesMathematics
The solution of the nonlinear (NL) vibration problem of the interaction of laminated plates made of exponentially graded orthotropic layers (EGOLs) with elastic foundations within the Kirchhoff–Love theory (KLT) is developed using the modified Lindstedt ...

Measurements of a rotor flow in ground effect and visualization of the brown-out phenomenon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Quantitative and qualitative results of a series of experiments conducted on a rotor in ground effect at low forward speeds are presented. The velocity over a wide area of the ground effect wake was measured using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), and ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
