Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Passive Aeroelastic Control of a Near-Ground Airfoil with a Nonlinear Vibration Absorber

open access: yesAerospace
This study explores the use of a passive control technique to mitigate aeroelastic effects on a wing operating near the ground. An aeroelastic model, based on a typical airfoil section, equipped with a nonlinear tuned vibration absorber (NLTVA), is ...

Effects of Earthquakes on Ground (II)

open access: yesJournal of Physics of the Earth, 1971
An empirical formula for the hypocentral distance of damaged railroad subgrade in earthquakes is given. Ground cracks caused by earthquakes are classified into those of tensile type, normal-fault type, and strike-slip type. After description of soil-liquefaction phenomena in earthquakes, the mechanism of spontaneous liquefaction of soils is reviewed ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

A Physics- and Data-Driven Study on the Ground Effect on the Propulsive Performance of Tandem Flapping Wings

open access: yesAerospace
In this paper, we present a physics- and data-driven study on the ground effect on the propulsive performance of tandem flapping wings. With numerical simulations, the impact of the ground effect on the aerodynamic force, energy consumption, and ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Compressible ground effect aerodynamics

open access: yes, 2009
The aerodynamics of bodies in compressible ground effect flowfields from low-subsonic to supersonic Mach numbers have been investigated numerically and experimentally. A study of existing literature indicated that compressible ground effect has been addressed sporadically in various contexts, without being researched in any comprehensive detail. One of

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...
