Multi-Criteria Study on Ground Source Heat Pump with Different Types of Heat Exchangers

open access: yesEnergies
Heat pumps are currently one of the most frequently applied heat sources in residential buildings. Ground source heat pumps are more reliable than air source heat pumps in terms of energy efficiency, especially in colder climates.

Numerical computation for parallel plate thermoacoustic heat exchangers in standing wave oscillatory flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A simplified computational method for studying the heat transfer characteristics of parallel plate thermoacoustic heat exchangers is presented. The model integrates the thermoacoustic equations of the standard linear theory into an energy balance-based ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

Evaluation of Heat Exchange Rate of Different Types of Ground Heat Exchangers

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers, 2013
This research presents an experimental study of heat exchange rate of U, W, 2U and coil type ground heat exchangers (GHEs) measured by thermal performance tests (TPTs). The four types of GHEs were installed in a partially saturated dredged soil deposit of Incheon International Airport area.

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.
