Suggestion of a Scale Factor to Design Spiral-Coil-Type Horizontal Ground Heat Exchangers

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Spiral-coil-type horizontal ground heat exchangers (GHEs) have been increasingly used in ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems due to their higher heat transfer performance.

Assessing the impact of vertical heat exchangers on the response of a retaining wall [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Shallow geothermal energy systems, e.g. borehole heat exchangers or thermo-active structures, provide sustainable space heating and cooling by exchanging heat with the ground.

Thermal Response of Helix Ground Heat Exchangers

open access: yes, 2017
This paper is devoted to the thermal analysis of shallow ground heat exchangers with pipes arranged in a helix configuration. The pipes where the carrier fluid is circulated typically embrace a cylindrical volume that is filled by ground or concrete, the

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

Temperatures and Heat Flows in a Soil Enclosing a Slinky Horizontal Heat Exchanger

open access: yesEnergies, 2014
Temperature changes and heat flows in soils that host “slinky”-type horizontal heat exchangers are complex, but need to be understood if robust quantification of the thermal energy available to a ground-source heat pump is to be achieved.

Genetic dissection of human ABCE1 in yeast reveals separable requirements for ribosome recycling and suppression of aberrant reinitiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human ABCE1 cannot functionally replace its yeast ortholog. Yeast–human chimera analysis identified NBD1 as a major interspecies barrier. Genetic screening yielded hABCE1 revertants that rescue yeast viability but fail to suppress aberrant translation reinitiation in the 3′ UTR.

Heat transfer processes in parallel-plate heat exchangers of thermoacoustic devices - Numerical and experimental approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper addresses the issues of heat transfer in oscillatory flow conditions, which are typically found in thermoacoustic devices. The analysis presented concerns processes taking place in the individual "channels" of the parallel-plate heat ...

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Heat extraction characteristics of ground heat exchangers using the Earth Retaining Wall under the Pre-installation method

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
Ground heat is a renewable energy source that is less affected by atmospheric temperature and maintains a nearly constant temperature throughout the year. Therefore, it can serve as a heat source for hot water and air conditioning systems, resulting in a
