An introduction to ground penetrating radar (GPR) in sediments

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 2003
Book synopsis: Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is transforming the way earth scientists and engineers describe and interpret near-surface sedimentary environments in the field. Because of recent advances in equipment, GPR now provides continuous, high-resolution data that other geophysical investigative tools cannot achieve.

Miniature Ground Penetrating Radar, CRUX GPR

2006 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2006
Under NASA instrument development programs (PIDDP 2000-2002, MIDP 2003-2005, ESR&T, 2005), we have been developing miniature ground penetrating radars (GPR) for use in mapping subsurface stratigraphy from planetary rovers for Mars and lunar applications.

An Overview of Ice Profiling Using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 2008, 2008
Winter ice roads are built on water bodies in northern regions to transport goods and machinery to otherwise isolated mines and communities. Effectively monitoring ice thickness is one of the major factors that contribute to safe ice road travel. By continuously profiling the ice with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), thin areas can be detected by ...

Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR)

2013
Since the 1970s ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has shown successful cases in non-invasive imaging of archaeological sites. Yet, standard methodology was based either on 2D data acquisition and real-time interpretation or low-resolution pseudo-3D surveying which has significantly limited the use of the technology to small projects and research purposes.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) direct wave study

2021
In this study, the major aim is to examine the spatial distribution of the electromagnetic (EM) signals around the ground penetrating radar (GPR) transmitting antenna (Tx). Since the recorded signals are mostly dictated by the strong direct wave signal, we have focused on the study of this response, attempting to locate areas around the Tx where the ...

Migration Deconvolution of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Data

2018 17th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2018
Migration of ground penetrating radar (GPR) data transforms the event occurred in the subsurface to the real location in either space or time domain, it provides more accurate image of subsurface. In order to improve the migration image quality, a deblurring filter is designed to deblur the reverse time migration (RTM) image.

Waveform diversity in ground penetrating radar (GPR) applications

2004 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference, 2004
In this paper, trade-offs associated with critical issues involved with ground penetrating radar (GPR) techniques are addressed. The proliferation of subsurface sanctuaries has increased the need for remote sensing techniques providing for the accurate detection and identification of deeply buried objects.

Bridge Deck Assessment Using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

22nd EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 2009
GPR data were acquired across two bridge decks: one with a hot bituminous wearing surface and a second with a bare concrete slab. The acquired GPR data were interpreted, and two plan view maps were generated: one depicts the magnitude of the reflections from the uppermost mat of rebar; the second depicts the arrival time of these reflections.
