Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) direct wave study
2021In this study, the major aim is to examine the spatial distribution of the electromagnetic (EM) signals around the ground penetrating radar (GPR) transmitting antenna (Tx). Since the recorded signals are mostly dictated by the strong direct wave signal, we have focused on the study of this response, attempting to locate areas around the Tx where the ...

Migration Deconvolution of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Data
2018 17th International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 2018Migration of ground penetrating radar (GPR) data transforms the event occurred in the subsurface to the real location in either space or time domain, it provides more accurate image of subsurface. In order to improve the migration image quality, a deblurring filter is designed to deblur the reverse time migration (RTM) image.

Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR)
2013Since the 1970s ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has shown successful cases in non-invasive imaging of archaeological sites. Yet, standard methodology was based either on 2D data acquisition and real-time interpretation or low-resolution pseudo-3D surveying which has significantly limited the use of the technology to small projects and research purposes.

Waveform diversity in ground penetrating radar (GPR) applications
2004 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference, 2004In this paper, trade-offs associated with critical issues involved with ground penetrating radar (GPR) techniques are addressed. The proliferation of subsurface sanctuaries has increased the need for remote sensing techniques providing for the accurate detection and identification of deeply buried objects.

Bridge Deck Assessment Using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
22nd EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 2009GPR data were acquired across two bridge decks: one with a hot bituminous wearing surface and a second with a bare concrete slab. The acquired GPR data were interpreted, and two plan view maps were generated: one depicts the magnitude of the reflections from the uppermost mat of rebar; the second depicts the arrival time of these reflections.

Directional and wideband antenna for ground penetrating radar (GPR) applications
2016 3rd International Conference on Electronic Design (ICED), 2016This paper presents a directional and wideband antenna for ground penetrating radar (GPR) applications. The antenna is designed by introducing slots on bowtie patch. The design is implemented on FR4 board with dielectric constant of 4.7 and thickness of 0.8 mm. As a result of having thinner substrate, the design is compact and light weight.

Use of Bistatic Allofrequency Antennas in Ground‐Penetrating Radar (GPR) Investigations
Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 1995, 1995Shielded monostatic transducers used in ground-penetrating radar investigations (GPR) provide good results in probing subsurface features. Use of bistatic (paired) isofrequency transducers can improve survey results. Bistatic antennas transmitting and receiving at the same center frequency (iso-) can reduce ‘ringing” produced by initial contact of a ...

Methods for Determining Soil Moisture with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
2002The soil water content has a dominant influence on the dielectric permittivity E of porous media because of the high permittivity of water compared with the matrix. The well known Maxwell’s relation which is valid for most natural soils combines the permittivity and the phase velocity v of electromagnetic waves where co is the velocity of light in ...

Sparsity-Promoted Blind Deconvolution of Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) Data
IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2014Over the past decades, numerous efforts have been attempted to enhance the temporal resolution and accuracy of subsurface ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data by means of blind deconvolution techniques. The fact that most of the source wavelets that are utilized in practical GPR exploration are nonminimum phase presents some challenges for the blind ...
