Evaluation of underground blast-induced ground motions through near-surface low-velocity geological layers

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2023
Surface ground motion produced by underground blasts is significantly influenced by near-surface geological conditions. However, near-surface low-propagation velocity layers were always ignored in past analyses of ground motions due to their thin ...

A Study on Site Specific Ground Response Analysis in Bihar

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2023
Abstract The influence of local soil conditions on earthquake earthquakes is assessed using seismic site response analysis. Earthquakes are natural phenomena that have claimed the lives and property of millions of people over the centuries.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Transmitting Characteristics of Seismic Motion in Super-Deep Overburden Layer Ground

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Dynamic response characteristics and antiseismic performance of the structures which were constructed on the super-deep overburden layer are affected obviously by the seismic motion characteristics of the super-deep overburden layer foundation.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A Centrifuge Model Test of the Ground Motion Response in a Moderately Stiff Soil

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
The ground motion response in a moderately stiff soil in seismic events has been traditionally studied based on the actual field records which, however, have yet to offer consistent results regarding the amplification effect of the ground motion.

A Stochastic Earthquake Ground Motion Database and Its Application in Seismic Analysis of an RC Frame-Shear Wall Structure

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
A stochastic earthquake ground motion database comprising twelve groups of simulated ground motions was introduced. Ground motions were generated using the stochastic semi-physical model of earthquake ground motions, based on a cluster analysis of 7778 ...

Response Time Analysis for RT-MQTT Protocol Grounded on SDN.

open access: yes, 2023
The current industry trend is to replace the use of custom components with standards-based Commercially available Off-The-Shelf (COTS) based hardware and protocols. Furthermore, the emergence of new industrial paradigms, such as Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things, sets additional requirements regarding e.g. scale, transparency, agility,

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
