Ground-state configurations in ferromagnetic nanotori

open access: yes, 2010
Magnetization ground states are studied in toroidal nanomagnets. The energetics associated to the ferromagnetic, vortex and onion-like configurations are explicitly computed.

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

Existence of ground state solutions for a class of quasilinear elliptic systems in Orlicz-Sobolev spaces

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
In this paper, we investigate the following nonlinear and non-homogeneous elliptic system: { − div ( a 1 ( | ∇ u | ) ∇ u ) + V 1 ( x ) a 1 ( | u | ) u = F u ( x , u , v ) in  R N , − div ( a 2 ( | ∇ v | ) ∇ v ) + V 2 ( x ) a 2 ( | v | ) v = F v ( x , u ,

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Extended RPA with ground-state correlations

open access: yes, 2003
We propose a time-independent method for finding a correlated ground state of an extended time-dependent Hartree-Fock theory, known as the time-dependent density-matrix theory (TDDM).

Fast ground-state-to-ground-state separation of small ion crystals

open access: yesPhysical Review A
Rapid separation of linear crystals of trapped ions into different subsets is critical for realizing trapped ion quantum computing architectures where ions are rearranged in trap arrays to achieve all-to-all connectivity between qubits. We introduce a general theoretical framework that can be used to describe the separation of same-species and mixed ...

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

A Particle Swarm Optimization-Based Queue Scheduling and Optimization Mechanism for Large-Scale Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite Communication Networks

open access: yesSensors
The spatial topology of large-scale low-Earth-orbit satellite communication networks is dynamically time-variant, and the load on the output ports of network nodes is continuously changing.

Ground state overlap and quantum phase transitions

open access: yes, 2006
We present a characterization of quantum phase transitions in terms of the the overlap function between two ground states obtained for two different values of external parameters.
