The role of Ta on twinnability in nanocrystalline Cu–Ta alloys
Nanostructured Cu–Ta alloys show promise as high-strength materials in part due to their limited grain growth. In the present study, we elucidate the role of Ta on the transition from deformation twinning to dislocation-mediated slip mechanisms in ...

Probing the superconducting ground state of the rare-earth ternary boride superconductors $R$RuB$_2$ ($R$ = Lu,Y) using muon-spin rotation and relaxation [PDF]
The superconductivity in the rare-earth transition metal ternary borides $R$RuB$_2$ (where $R$ = Lu and Y) has been investigated using muon-spin rotation and relaxation.

Gapless ground state in the archetypal quantum kagome antiferromagnet ZnCu3(OH)6Cl2 [PDF]
Spin liquids are exotic phases of quantum matter that challenge Landau’s paradigm of symmetry-breaking phase transitions. Despite strong exchange interactions, spins do not order or freeze down to zero temperature.

Electronic ground state of Ni2+ [PDF]
The Φ9/24 ground state of the Ni2+ diatomic molecular cation is determined experimentally from temperature and magnetic-field-dependent x-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy in a cryogenic ion trap, where an electronic and rotational temperature of 7.4±0.2 K was reached by buffer gas cooling of the molecular ion.

Nuclear ground state masses and deformations [PDF]
We tabulate the atomic mass excesses and nuclear ground-state deformations of 8979 nuclei ranging from 16O to A = 339. The calculations are based on the finite-range droplet macroscopic model and the folded-Yukawa single-particle microscopic model ...

Class of exactly solvable SO(n) symmetric spin chains with matrix product ground states [PDF]
We introduce a class of exactly solvable SO(n) symmetric Hamiltonians with matrix product ground states. For an odd $n\geq 3$ case, the ground state is a translational invariant Haldane gap spin liquid state; while for an even $n\geq 4$ case, the ground ...

Graphene is locally two-dimensional but not flat. Nanoscale ripples appear in suspended samples and rolling-up often occurs when boundaries are not fixed. We address this variety of graphene geometries by classifying all ground-state deformations of the hexagonal lattice with respect to configurational energies including two- and three-body terms. As a

In this article, we study the existence of ground state solutions for the Schrödinger-Poisson-Slater type equation with the Coulomb-Sobolev critical growth: −Δu+14π∣x∣∗∣u∣2u=∣u∣u+μ∣u∣p−2u,inR3,-\Delta u+\left(\frac{1}{4\pi | x| }\ast | u{| }^{2}\right)u=|

Ground state on the dumbbell graph [PDF]
We consider standing waves in the focusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger (NLS) equation on a dumbbell graph (two rings attached to a central line segment subject to the Kirchhoff boundary conditions at the junctions).

Microwave-to-optics conversion using a mechanical oscillator in its quantum ground state [PDF]
Conversion between signals in the microwave and optical domains is of great interest both for classical telecommunication and for connecting future superconducting quantum computers into a global quantum network.
