Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Motion robust 4D-MRI sorting based on anatomic feature matching: A digital phantom simulation study

open access: yesRadiation Medicine and Protection, 2020
Purpose: Motion artifacts induced by breathing variations are common in 4D-MRI images. This study aims to reduce the motion artifacts by developing a novel, robust 4D-MRI sorting method based on anatomic feature matching and applicable in both cine and ...

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

The inconvenient truth of ground truth errors in automotive datasets and DNN-based detection

open access: yesData-Centric Engineering
Assisted and automated driving functions will rely on machine learning algorithms, given their ability to cope with real-world variations, e.g. vehicles of different shapes, positions, colors, and so forth.

Ground Truth Energies for Hierarchies of Segmentations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In evaluating a hierarchy of segmentations H of an image by ground truth G, which can be partitions of the space or sets, we look for the optimal partition in H that “fits” G best. Two energies on partial partitions express the proximity from H to G, and G to H. They derive from a local version of the Hausdorff distance.

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

Long-term visual localization in dynamic benthic environments: the SEALOC dataset, footprint-based ground truth, and visual place recognition benchmark

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI
Long-term visual localization has the potential to reduce cost and improve mapping quality in optical benthic monitoring with autonomous underwater vehicles Despite this potential, long-term visual localization in benthic environments remains ...
