The grounded theory alternative in business network research [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This paper presents a brief outline of the defining characteristics of grounded theory methodology. Such a focus was motivated by a desire to bring the methodology into clearer focus.

Rapidly Solidified High‐Strength Invar 36 Prepared by Planar‐Flow Melt Spinning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The Invar 36 alloy was rapidly solidified using the planar‐flow melt‐spinning technique. Ribbon samples with thicknesses ranging from 20 to 160 mm were produced. As the grain size of the ribbon decreased to sub‐micron levels, the hardness increased by more than 2 times.

Constructing New Theory for Identifying Students with Emotional Disturbance: A Constructivist Approach to Grounded Theory

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2012
A grounded theory study that examined how practitioners in a county alternative and correctional education setting identify youth with emotional and behavioral difficulties for special education services provides an exemplar for a constructivist approach

Cryogenic Deformation Behavior of TiAl and Insights Into Embrittlement After High‐Temperature Exposure Combined With Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy of Near Surface Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Near‐surface deuterium enrichment profiles for different microstructural types of TiAl after exposure at 700 °C in a heavy water‐containing environment. The deuterium levels are significantly higher than expected from natural occurrence, indicating that the heavy water dissociated during the exposure treatment and entered the specimens.

What is Social Constructionism?

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2012
Social Constructionism has been instrumental in remodeling grounded theory. In attempting to make sense of the social world, social constructionists view knowledge as constructed as opposed to created.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Doing Formal Grounded Theory

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2007
This is the latest in a family of Grounded Theory books by Glaser that continue to build on previous work and make the methodology much more explicit. Its purpose is quite simply to provide Grounded Theory researchers with a set of procedures that can ...
