Amphoteric Cu‐Doping Leading to High Thermoelectric Performance in p‐Type Bismuth Antimony Telluride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that Cu plays two opposite roles in p‐type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 depending on the processing route. Under thermodynamic‐equilibrium bulk‐synthesis, Cu mainly occupies cation sites, increases hole concentration, preserves mobility, and slightly reduces lattice heat transport. The best‐performing composition among the investigated series reaches

The Relationship between an Emerging Grounded Theory and the Existing Literature: Four phases for consideration

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2006
The relationship between grounded theory researchers and the existing literature has become a red herring that even confuses some grounded theorists who have completed a study. Antoinette McCallin’s essay does a commendable job outlining the realities of

Nitride MXenes Beyond Carbides: Bridging the Gap Between Computational Prediction and Experimental Realization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nitride MXenes remain constrained by a persistent gap between computational prediction and experimental realization. This Review identifies the thermodynamic, kinetic, and chemical barriers limiting their synthesis, critically evaluates emerging fabrication routes, and proposes a multidimensional computational‐experimental framework to accelerate the ...

The Future of Grounded Theory

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2022
Editor’s Note: As we celebrate this great man’s life, we re-publish this gently edited paper about what the future of grounded theory is likely to be. Glaser discussed in whose hands the future of grounded theory appears to be as well as what accounts ...

Photoinduced Interfacial Electronic Modulation in Fe2O3‐BiVO4 Heterostructures for Enhanced Photo‐Assisted Zn‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light irradiation activates the Fe2O3‐BiVO4 heterostructure, enabling efficient solar‐electrochemical coupling in zinc‐air batteries. The built‐in electric field drives directional charge separation, guiding photoelectrons toward oxygen reduction sites and accumulating holes for oxygen evolution, thereby reducing polarization and enhancing discharge ...

Defect‐Free Transfer Principles for Scalable, Thin Garnet‐Based Hybrid Solid Electrolytes in Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Defect‐free transfer principles enable scalable fabrication of 15 µm‐thin garnet‐based hybrid solid electrolytes. Hansen solubility parameters correlate interfacial compatibility with coating, transfer, and impregnation behavior, guiding rational selection of slurry/substrate, binder/substrate, and binder/polymer electrolyte combinations.

Book Review:

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2012
I have been impressed by a lot of what Glaser and Strauss and Glaser writing alone have said to me about sociological research, I teach methodology at masters and doctoral levels and always recommend these works to my students, encouraging them, where ...

High‐Efficiency Quantum Defect Generation in Carbon Nanotubes via Oxygen‐Free Photochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We show that oxygen plays an important role in quantum defect formation in carbon nanotubes and identify reaction conditions to create a range of different quantum defects for photonics and biosensing. ABSTRACT Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) offer potential for a wide range of applications from optoelectronic devices to biomedical diagnostics.

Book Review: Heeding The Cry for Help

open access: yesGrounded Theory Review: An International Journal, 2016
In The Cry for Help, Glaser (2016) articulated four main points. First, the use of classic grounded theory (CGT) is growing worldwide. Second, there are increasing numbers of novice researchers seeking support.
