Common grounding system

IEEE Systems Technical Conference on Industrial and Commercial Power 2005., 2005
Current European Standards (HD 631 S1-1999 E) have fostered the so-called "common grounding system" (CGS) concept. It consists in the interconnection of the grounding systems of all the MV/LV substations of a MV network together to the HV/MV substation grounding grid, by means of the MV cables' metal sheaths and/or of dedicated ground conductors buried

Intrinsically Safe Grounding Systems and Global Grounding Systems

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2018
This paper introduces a characterization of grounding systems (GSs) and defines their condition of “conventionally safe” and “intrinsically safe.” A single GS and a set of GSs are intrinsically safe if they guarantee touch/step voltages permanently permissible for an assigned ground fault value.

Power Grounding Safety: Copper Grounding Systems vs. Steel Grounding Systems

2006 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2006
More and more conventional grounding systems made of steel are being replaced with copper grounding systems in Asian countries. This paper analyzes the performance of grounding systems made of steel or copper conductors, taking into account the impedances of the ground conductors.

SOHO operations and ground system

Space Science Reviews, 1994
SORO is a joint ESA/NASA mission to study the sun from its interior to, and including, the solar wind in interplanetary space. It is currently scheduled for launch in 1995. After launch SORO will be operated from the Experiment Operations Facility (EOF) at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The EOF will consist of facilities for instrument commanding,

Globality levels of grounding systems

2014 IEEE/IAS 50th Industrial & Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference, 2014
IEC Standard 61936-1 “Power installations exceeding 1 kV a.c.” defines the “Global Grounding System” (GGS). It consists essentially in the interconnection of the MV/LV grounding systems, generally at least by means of the MV cables metal sheaths and/or of dedicated ground conductors buried along the MV cable lines.

Composing Interoperable Ground Systems

2007 Sixth International IEEE Conference on Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS)-Based Software Systems (ICCBSS'07), 2007
This workshop at ICCBSS07 addresses issues relating to developing interoperable ground systems starting with components that may not originally have been intended to work together. The workshop explores these issues in more depth, shares lessons learned, identifies practical approaches for acquisition and implementation, and highlights research ...

Needs of Management of the Grounding Systems

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2015
This paper suggests an advanced approach in the verification of the adequacy of a grounding system (GS) located in a common zone of influence with other GSs, taking into account the mutual interferences between the GSs. In fact, the presence of other GSs can transfer inadmissible touch and step voltages on the testing GS, particularly sensitive for ...

TN-Grounding Systems for the Emerging Cold Ironing: Multiple Grounded System vs Island System

2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe), 2018
The commercial routes interconnection in maritime world transport requires common criteria for the standardization of shore connection's rules in port areas. A brief focus on the part 1: High Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) Systems (IEC-ISO-IEEE 80005–1) has been presented that is an example of global harmonization.
