GVZ-groups, Flat groups, and CM-Groups [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2021
We show that a group is a GVZ-group if and only if it is a flat group. We show that the nilpotence class of a GVZ-group is bounded by the number of distinct degrees of irreducible characters. We also show that certain CM-groups can be characterized as GVZ-groups whose irreducible character values lie in the prime field.

Group Connectivity and Group Coloring: Small Groups versus Large Groups [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2020
A well-known result of Tutte says that if $\Gamma$ is an Abelian group and $G$ is a graph having a nowhere-zero $\Gamma$-flow, then $G$ has a nowhere-zero $\Gamma'$-flow for each Abelian group $\Gamma'$ whose order is at least the order of $\Gamma$. Jaeger, Linial, Payan, and Tarsi observed that this does not extend to their more general concept of ...

On a bottom layer in a group

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы, 2020
We consider the problem of recognizing a group by its bottom layer. This problem is solved in the class of layer-finite groups. A group is layer-finite if it has a finite number of elements of every order. This concept was first introduced by S.

Solving optimization problems in emergency evacuation

open access: yesTạp chí Khoa học và Công nghệ, 2023
In this paper, we propose a method to solve the optimization problem in an emergency evacuation. Specifically, when passengers are waiting for their flight in the lounge and a fire breaks out.

Learning in a Group, as a Group, and between Groups [PDF]

open access: yesCBE—Life Sciences Education, 2019
Learning in groups is a common feature of science classrooms. The three articles I have chosen to feature in this installment of Current Insights reflect recent research of group learning at different scales. The first examines within-group dynamics, identifying interactions among students that allow scientific sense-making discussions to begin and ...

To group or not to group? Group sizes for requirements elicitation

open access: yesInformation and Software Technology, 2023
Context: Requirement elicitation can be done by individuals or by groups. Computer-based system development life-cycle models suggest having people working together for many steps. Also, recommendations about analysis and design methods indicate that some processes could take advantage of group work.

О ГРУППАХ С ПРЕДСТАВЛЕНИЕМ < a,b;a^n = 1,ab = b³a³ > [PDF]

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2010
Established that for n = 4 and n ≥ 7 group G(n) = < a,b;a^n = 1,ab = b³a³> are infinite, and for the remaining n evaluated the procedure and investigate the structure of the group G(n).
