GVZ-groups, Flat groups, and CM-Groups [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2021
We show that a group is a GVZ-group if and only if it is a flat group. We show that the nilpotence class of a GVZ-group is bounded by the number of distinct degrees of irreducible characters. We also show that certain CM-groups can be characterized as GVZ-groups whose irreducible character values lie in the prime field.

Group Connectivity and Group Coloring: Small Groups versus Large Groups [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2020
A well-known result of Tutte says that if $\Gamma$ is an Abelian group and $G$ is a graph having a nowhere-zero $\Gamma$-flow, then $G$ has a nowhere-zero $\Gamma'$-flow for each Abelian group $\Gamma'$ whose order is at least the order of $\Gamma$. Jaeger, Linial, Payan, and Tarsi observed that this does not extend to their more general concept of ...

Learning in a Group, as a Group, and between Groups [PDF]

open access: yesCBE—Life Sciences Education, 2019
Learning in groups is a common feature of science classrooms. The three articles I have chosen to feature in this installment of Current Insights reflect recent research of group learning at different scales. The first examines within-group dynamics, identifying interactions among students that allow scientific sense-making discussions to begin and ...

To group or not to group? Group sizes for requirements elicitation

open access: yesInformation and Software Technology, 2023
Context: Requirement elicitation can be done by individuals or by groups. Computer-based system development life-cycle models suggest having people working together for many steps. Also, recommendations about analysis and design methods indicate that some processes could take advantage of group work.

The Fundamental Group of a Group Manifold [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1934
The study of the interrelations between group structures and topological structures is one of the interesting recent developments of group theory. It has become well known that a space @ which is at the same time a continuous group cannot be of arbitrary topological structure.

The complex-type cyclic-Fibonacci sequence and its applications [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mahani Mathematical Research, 2023
In the present paper, we aim to generalize the notion of complex-type Fibonacci sequences to complex-type cyclic Fibonacci sequences. Firstly, we define the complex-type cyclic-Fibonacci sequence and then we give miscellaneous  properties of this ...

A Taxonomy for the Social Agents of Scientific Change

open access: yesScientonomy, 2017
Although we accept that a scientific mosaic is a set of theories and methods accepted and employed by a scientific community, scientific community currently lacks a proper definition in scientonomy.

For stage II node positive breast cancer, Is it worthwhile to consider adjuvant radiotherapy following mastectomy?:

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2014
Purpose:To evaluate overall survival(OS), progression free survival(PFS), loco-regional recurrence(LRR), and toxicities for early breast cancer patients with 1-3positive axillary lymph nodes, by the addition of radiotherapy to adjuvant chemotherapy ...

Pawning and challenging in concert: Engagement as a field of study [PDF]

open access: yesFilozofija i Društvo, 2016
An introduction of sorts, this text opens the thematic collection of articles on engagement. It takes up the idea that a particular group of people engage the idea of engagement in order to establish a field of study.
