Immunoglobulin receptors of group a streptococcus
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1979It was shown in the gel precipitation tests that absorption of human and rabbit IgG or Fc-fragments obtained from human IgG group A streptococcal cultures results in inhibition of the reactions of these preparations with immunoglobulin sera. The reactions of F(ab')2-fragments with the corresponding sera are not inhibited during their absorption by the ...

The Streptococcus milleri Group
Infection Control, 1986Microbiologists traditionally have relied on biochemical and serologic tests to identify only group A, group B, and group D streptococci isolated from patients with serious infections. Until recently there has been little interest in the further classification of other streptococci isolated from clinical specimens. In 1956, Guthof repeatedly isolated a ...

Endocarditis Due to Group A Streptococcus
The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 1981In a prospective 30-month study 85 cases of endocarditis were observed at Harlem Hospital Center. Group A Streptococcus Transcriptome Analysis
2020Global gene expression analyses in bacteria have undergone a dramatic transformation. Prior to the development of high-throughput sequencing technologies, real-time PCR or microarray studies were the mainstay of assessing differences in gene expression in bacteria. Real-time PCR remains a critical tool for targeted gene expression analyses.

Group a streptococcus necrotizing fasciitis
Comprehensive Therapy, 2000Necrotizing fasciitis due to Group A streptococcus has been observed with increasing frequency over the past decade. Appropriate management requires rapid recognition of this life-threatening infection and expeditious antimicrobial therapy as well as surgical debridement or excision of tissue.

Perineal Group A Streptococcus
Pediatrics, 2001To the Editor. There's an old joke: How do you tell the difference between a physician and an organic chemist in the men's room? The physician washes his hands after he's used the urinal; the organic chemist washes his hand before. Mogielnicki et al1 have documented many of the potentially significant factors associated with perineal Group A ...

Puerperal group A Streptococcus infection
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, 2009Group A Streptococci infection during antenatal period as well as postnally can be very serious and would require intense management-both surgical and medical. Many authors believe the incidence is rising. High index of clinical suspicion is necessary in order to early intervention.

Group B streptococcus arthritis
Clinical Rheumatology, 1983Serious infections with group B streptococcus (streptococcus agalactiae) are rare in adults. A 81-year-old patient with cirrhosis who developed a septic arthritis due to this germ, is described. Only eleven cases of group B streptococcal arthritis have been previously reported.

Group B Streptococcus and Pregnancy
Pediatric Annals, 1996Group B streptococcus is a significant pathogen for both mother and child. routine urine culture in pregnancy will identify and allow treatment of women with asymptomatic bacteriuria. An optimal protocol for the prevention of neonatal sepsis has not yet been developed.

Group B Streptococcus and Pregnancy
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1995EDITORIAL COMMENT: We have accepted this paper for publication as an Editorial because it is an overview of the experience from a centre with a longstanding interest in routine screening for Group B streptococcus in pregnancy. The fact remains that universal screening for Group B streptococcus during pregnancy is not routinely performed in many major
