Group-velocity dispersion in a Bragg fiber

A comprehensive study of the group-velocity dispersion of the TE, TM, and hybrid modes in a Bragg fiber is presented by showing many numerical examples. The dispersion can be represented in a simple form as the sum of the material and the waveguide dispersions under the quarter-wave stack condition.

Group-velocity-dispersion-compensated propagation of short pulses in dispersive media

An optical scheme based on a single angularly dispersive element is proposed for canceling group-velocity dispersion for pulse propagation in dispersive media. It is demonstrated experimentally that a pulse duration of 100 fs is preserved throughout the travel of a 248-nm-pulse through a 75-mm-long fused-silica slab.

Normal group-velocity dispersion Kerr frequency comb

We show via numerical simulation that Kerr frequency combs can be generated in a nonlinear resonator characterized with normal group-velocity dispersion. We find the spectral shape of the comb and temporal envelope of the corresponding optical pulses formed in the resonator.

Dispersive pulse propagation and group velocity

The propagation of pulses in a dissipative medium is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The theoretical work is based on the dissipative dispersion integral, and the measurements are made in an air-filled periodic waveguide (i.e., the dispersion is Bloch wave dispersion).

Phonon dispersion sheets and group velocities in GaAs

Phonon frequencies on two dispersion sheets for TA modes have been determined by inelastic neutron scattering on the (001) and the (011) planes at 12 K. Phonon group velocities for these phonons have been derived. The results are used to calculate heat transport properties.
