Dispersion analysis of a planar negative group velocity-transmission line
2007 European Radar Conference, 2007The existence of a negative group velocity region in a stub-loaded transmission line is investigated, focusing on the reshaping experienced by amplitude modulated signals propagating in it.

Electromagnetic (EM) propagation velocities play an important role in the determination of power and energy flow in materials and interfaces. It is well known that group and phase velocities need to be in opposition in order to achieve negative refractive index.

Group velocity, energy, and polarization mode dispersion
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1999The group-velocity concept of a complex of modes is investigated, and the findings are related to power and energy. A special case of interest is polarization mode dispersion. This approach permits a generalization of polarization mode dispersion to the case of polarization mixing of multiple modes.

Wave breaking in dispersion-decreasing fiber with normal group-velocity dispersion
SPIE Proceedings, 2009We show wave breaking (WB) can occur in a dispersion decreasing fiber with normal group-velocity dispersion preceding the parabolic pulse formation (PPF), and the distance where it happens can be described by two equations. Based on the transformation of a nonlinear Schrodinger equation with the typical decreasing dispersion into the form of the ...

Group Velocity Dispersion of 1-D Plasmon Waveguides
2011 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics (SOPO), 2011The group delay and the group velocity dispersion (GVD) of surface mode supported by 1-D plasmon waveguides are proposed by derivative action directly on the eigenvalue equation. Influences of structure parameter d and wavelength λ on the propagation constant, the group delay and the group velocity dispersion are discussed.

Group velocity, phase velocity, and dispersion in human calcaneusin vivo
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007Commercial bone sonometers measure broadband ultrasonic attenuation and/or speed of sound (SOS) in order to assess bone status. Phase velocity, which is usually measured in frequency domain, is a fundamental material property of bone that is related to SOS, which is usually measured in time domain.

Group velocity dispersion analysis in northern Peninsular Malaysia
Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2016The crustal structure beneath three seismic stations over Malaysia has been investigated with the application of the group velocity dispersion analysis of the northern Sumatra earthquake data which occurred on 06 April 2010. Eighteen crustal layer models are constructed to assess the structure.

Group Velocity Dispersion in Composite Tellurite - Fluorophosphate Fiber
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009We design composite tellurite and fluorophosphate glass fiber and calculate the group velocity dispersion. Either anomalous or zero flattened dispersion can be tailored for nonlinear applications, in telecommunication band, with proper core and cladding dimensions.

Phonon dispersion sheets and group velocities in GaAs
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1990Phonon frequencies on two dispersion sheets for TA modes have been determined by inelastic neutron scattering on the (001) and the (011) planes at 12 K. Phonon group velocities for these phonons have been derived. The results are used to calculate heat transport properties.
