First arriving signals in layered waveguides. An approach based on dispersion diagrams

open access: yes, 2016
The first arriving signal (FAS) in a layered waveguide is investigated. It is well known that the velocity of such a signal is close to the velocity of the fastest medium in the waveguide, and it may be bigger than the fastest group velocity given by the

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

GROUP VELOCITY DISPERSION CONTROL BY SUSPENDED- CORE SOFT-GLASS FIBER FILLED WITH CARBON DISULFIDE

open access: yesTạp chí Khoa học Đại học Đà Lạt
An enhanced group velocity dispersion (GVD) control with suspended core fiber (SCF) has been investigated using numerical simulation based on the finite element method.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Steep anomalous dispersion in coherently prepared Rb vapor

open access: yes, 1999
Steep dispersion of opposite signs in driven degenerate two-level atomic transitions have been predicted and observed on the D2 line of 87Rb in an optically thin vapor cell. The intensity dependence of the anomalous dispersion has been studied.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Confirmation of an Anomalously Low Dark Matter Content for the Galaxy NGC 1052-DF4 from Deep, High-resolution Continuum Spectroscopy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
NGC 1052-DF4 was found to be the second “galaxy lacking dark matter” in the NGC 1052 group, based on its velocity dispersion of ${\sigma }_{\mathrm{gc}}={4.2}_{-2.2}^{+4.4}$ km s ^−1 as measured from the radial velocities of seven of its globular ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Direct surface wave tomography for three dimensional structure based on surface wave traveltimes: Methodology review and applications

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评, 2023
Surface wave tomography using dispersion data to obtain isotropic and anisotropic shear wave velocity structures is a very efficient approach to study regional and global tectonics and deformation and to probe high-resolution crustal, upper mantle and ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
