Normal group-velocity dispersion Kerr frequency comb

Optics Letters, 2011
We show via numerical simulation that Kerr frequency combs can be generated in a nonlinear resonator characterized with normal group-velocity dispersion. We find the spectral shape of the comb and temporal envelope of the corresponding optical pulses formed in the resonator.

Dispersion analysis of a planar negative group velocity-transmission line

2007 European Radar Conference, 2007
The existence of a negative group velocity region in a stub-loaded transmission line is investigated, focusing on the reshaping experienced by amplitude modulated signals propagating in it.

Dispersive pulse propagation and group velocity

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1993
The propagation of pulses in a dissipative medium is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The theoretical work is based on the dissipative dispersion integral, and the measurements are made in an air-filled periodic waveguide (i.e., the dispersion is Bloch wave dispersion).

Group velocity dispersion tailoring in optical structures

SPIE Proceedings, 1995
The control of the group velocity dispersion (GVD) in the waveguiding structures may be of crucial interest in optical communications. It may be achieved controlling one of the components of GVD, the waveguide dispersion, which depends on the geometry and the refractive index profiles of the guiding structures. In this paper the waveguide dispersion in

Group-velocity dispersion in chirped-pulse amplifier

Acta Physica Sinica (Overseas Edition), 1996
By using the pulse propagation equation in the nonlinear dispersive medium, the effects of second- and third-order group-velocity dispersion on pulse evolution in the stretching, amplification and compressing are studied when chirped pulse amplification is applied to the pulses of a width

Group velocity dispersion measurements of microstructured fibers

Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics. Postconference Technical Digest (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37170), 2001
Summary form only given. There has been great recent interest in microstructured fibers that consist of a regular arrangement of holes stretched along silica or air core. These fibers can guide light either by opening a photonic bandgap or, in the case of silica core, by total internal reflection. Microstructure fibers have unique dispersion properties

Group velocity, phase velocity, and dispersion in human calcaneusin vivo

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
Commercial bone sonometers measure broadband ultrasonic attenuation and/or speed of sound (SOS) in order to assess bone status. Phase velocity, which is usually measured in frequency domain, is a fundamental material property of bone that is related to SOS, which is usually measured in time domain.

Phonon dispersion sheets and group velocities in GaAs

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1990
Phonon frequencies on two dispersion sheets for TA modes have been determined by inelastic neutron scattering on the (001) and the (011) planes at 12 K. Phonon group velocities for these phonons have been derived. The results are used to calculate heat transport properties.

Group-velocity dispersion in an all-pass Bragg filter

Optics Letters, 1994
On the basis of previously performed theoretical analysis it is shown that a slanted volume grating acts as an all-pass filter with nonlinear dispersion when the diffracted wave is evanescent. An analytical expression for the grating transfer function applicable over a wide angular range of mutual orientation of the initial wave and grating vectors is ...
