GVZ-groups, Flat groups, and CM-Groups [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2021
We show that a group is a GVZ-group if and only if it is a flat group. We show that the nilpotence class of a GVZ-group is bounded by the number of distinct degrees of irreducible characters. We also show that certain CM-groups can be characterized as GVZ-groups whose irreducible character values lie in the prime field.

Group Connectivity and Group Coloring: Small Groups versus Large Groups [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2020
A well-known result of Tutte says that if $\Gamma$ is an Abelian group and $G$ is a graph having a nowhere-zero $\Gamma$-flow, then $G$ has a nowhere-zero $\Gamma'$-flow for each Abelian group $\Gamma'$ whose order is at least the order of $\Gamma$. Jaeger, Linial, Payan, and Tarsi observed that this does not extend to their more general concept of ...

An Information Flow Model for Conflict and Fission in Small Groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Anthropological Research, 1977
Data from a voluntary association are used to construct a new formal model for a traditional anthropological problem, fission in small groups. The process leading to fission is viewed as an unequal flow of sentiments and information across the ties in a ...

From mapping class groups to automorphism groups of free groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We show that the natural map from the mapping class groups of surfaces to the automorphism groups of free groups, induces an infinite loop map on the classifying spaces of the stable groups after plus construction.

An enhanced healthcare system in mobile cloud computing environment

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Computer Science, 2016
Mobile cloud computing (MCC) is a new technology for mobile web services. Accordingly, we assume that MCC is likely to be of the heart of healthcare transformation. MCC offers new kinds of services and facilities for patients and caregivers.

Automorphism groups of polycyclic-by-finite groups and arithmetic groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We show that the outer automorphism group of a polycyclic-by-finite group is an arithmetic group. This result follows from a detailed structural analysis of the automorphism groups of such groups. We use an extended version of the theory of the algebraic

OrthoMCL: identification of ortholog groups for eukaryotic genomes.

open access: yesGenome Research, 2003
The identification of orthologous groups is useful for genome annotation, studies on gene/protein evolution, comparative genomics, and the identification of taxonomically restricted sequences.

Village Seed Production Groups Supported by Network and Capacity Building in Disseminating Modern Varieties in Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences, 2023
Strategic food crops production such as rice, maize and soybean are determined by harvested areas multiplied by productivity, while productivity is affected by availability of highquality seed of modern varieties which is adaptive to both biotic and ...

Covering Groups of Nonconnected Topological Groups and 2-Groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We investigate the universal cover of a topological group that is not necessarily connected. Its existence as a topological group is governed by a Taylor cocycle, an obstruction in 3-cohomology.
