POLYCYCLIC GROUPS, ANALYTIC GROUPS AND ALGEBRAIC GROUPS

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, 2002
A group \(G\) is poly-(infinite cyclic) if it has a finite subnormal series \(G=G_n\geq G_{n-1}\geq\cdots\geq G_1\geq G_0=1\) such that each quotient \(G_i/G_{i-1}\) is infinite cyclic. A basis for a poly-(infinite cyclic) group is a sequence of elements \((x_1,\dots,x_n)\) such that \(G_i=(x_1,\dots,x_i)\).

Braid groups of imprimitive complex reflection groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We obtain new presentations for the imprimitive complex reflection groups of type $(de,e,r)$ and their braid groups $B(de,e,r)$ for $d,r \ge 2$. Diagrams for these presentations are proposed.

Semihyperbolic Groups

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, 1995
We define semihyperbolicity, a condition which describes non-positive curvature in the large for an arbitrary metric space. This property is invariant under quasi-isometry. A finitely generated group is said to be weakly semihyperbolic if when endowed with the word metric associated to some finite generating set it is a semihyperbolic metric space ...

Proactive control of cresting in homogeneous oil reservoirs: an experimental study

open access: yesPetroleum Science, 2017
This paper sets out to investigate experimentally the use of electromagnetic valves in controlling production of water during cresting from homogeneous non-fractured thick-oil and thin-oil reservoirs, based on the principle of capillarity and ...

Stressful Events Reported by Childhood Cancer Survivors and Community Controls From the St. Jude Lifetime (SJLIFE) Cohort: A Mixed Method Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Characterizing stressful events reported by childhood cancer survivors experienced throughout the lifespan may help improve trauma‐informed care relevant to the survivor experience. Methods Participants included 2552 survivors (54% female; 34 years of age) and 469 community controls (62% female; 33 years of age) from the St.
