Poisson boundary of groups acting on ℝ-trees

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Mathematics, 2011
We give a geometric description of the Poisson boundaries of certain extensions of free and hyperbolic groups. In particular, we get a full description of the Poisson boundaries of free-by-cyclic groups in terms of the boundary of the free sub- group.

NFDI MatWerk Ontology (MWO): A BFO‐Compliant Ontology for Research Data Management in Materials Science and Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the NFDI‐MatWerk Ontology (MWO), a Basic Formal Ontology‐based framework for interoperable research data management in materials science and engineering (MSE). Covering consortium structures, research data management resources, services, and instruments, MWO enables semantic integration, Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions

The Farrell-Jones Isomorphism Conjecture in K-Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that the Farrell-Jones isomorphism conjecture for non-connective algebraic K-theory for a discrete group G and a coefficient ring R holds true if G belongs to the class of groups acting on trees, under certain conditions on G (see theorem 0.5 ...

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.
