Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Hasse-Minkowski theorem for quadratic forms on Mordell-Weil type groups

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we investigate an analogue of Hasse-Minkowski theorem for quadratic forms on Mordell-Weil type groups over number fields like $S$-units, abelian varieties with trivial ring of endomorphisms and odd algebraic $K$-theory ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

FORMULATICITY OF THE INCOMPLETE SYNTACTIC FORM OF AN IMPERATIVE STATEMENT IN DISCOURSE

open access: yesSovremennye Issledovaniâ Socialʹnyh Problem
Background. Language units functioning in specific discourse conditions undergo desemantization and gramaticalization, which results in new discourse units forming. These units perform relevant discourse functions and carry communicative meanings.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Unit groups of infinite abelian extensions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1970
Let F be a finite extension field of the rational numbers, 0, and let K be an infinite abelian extension of F. Let 5 be a finite set of prime divisors of Q including the Archimedean one. An 5-unit of K is a field element which is a local unit at all prime divisors of F which do not restrict on Q to a member of 5.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
