The Ti/c-Si solid state reaction : III. The low-temperature reaction kinetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Thin Ti layers (≈10nm) are grown on top of a clean Si(111) substrate. Heating these layers initiates a solid state reaction, yielding a monosilicide phase at ≈350°C and a C49 disilicide at ≈450°C.

The Impact of Single Amino Acids on Growth and Volatile Aroma Production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strains

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Nitrogen availability and utilization by Saccharomyces cerevisiae significantly influence fermentation kinetics and the production of volatile compounds important for wine aroma. Amino acids are the most important nitrogen source and have been classified

The physics of snow crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We examine the physical mechanisms governing the formation of snow crystals, treating this problem as a case study of the dynamics of crystal growth from the vapour phase.

Domain Growth in Ising Systems with Quenched Disorder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present results from extensive Monte Carlo (MC) simulations of domain growth in ferromagnets and binary mixtures with quenched disorder. These are modeled by the "random-bond Ising model" and the "dilute Ising model" with either nonconserved (Glauber)

Listeria monocytogenes Growth Kinetics in Milkshakes Made from Naturally and Artificially Contaminated Ice Cream

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
This study assessed the growth of Listeria monocytogenes in milkshakes made using the process-contaminated ice cream associated with a listeriosis outbreak in comparison to milkshakes made with artificially contaminated ice cream.

Growth Kinetics of the (110) Faces of Complex Potassium Cobalt–Nickel Sulphate K2CoxNi1−x(SO4)2·6H2O Crystals

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
The normal growth rate, the steepness of polygonized growth hillocks and the velocity of step movement on the (110) faces of potassium cobalt–nickel sulphate crystals in aqueous solutions with cobalt to nickel ratios of 1:1 and 1:2 were investigated as a

Impact of carbon sources in airport de-icing compounds on the growth of Sphaerotilus natans

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Airport de-icing has been linked with the growth of undesirable river biofilms (URBs, formerly “sewage fungus”), a manifestation of organic pollution causing long-term ecological damage to watercourses.

Study on the properties of wafer-scale grown MoS2 deposited via thermally induced chemical vapor deposition with Mo(CO)6 and H2S precursors

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
To realize profitable applications with 2D-materials the transition from research scale to microelectronic fabrication methods is needed. This means the use of equipment for larger substrates and assessment of the process flows.
