Growth of ZnO Nanowires in Aqueous Solution by a Dissolution‐Growth Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, 2008
A novel methodology based on the dissolution‐growth mechanism was developed to prepare ZnO nanowires films. The film morphology and structure were investigated by using field emission scanning electron microscopy, high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy and X‐ray diffraction analysis methods.

Early Impact of Childhood Opportunity on Neurocognitive Outcomes in Sickle Cell Disease

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neurocognitive impairment is a well‐recognized complication of sickle cell disease (SCD) that begins early in childhood and persists across development. While cerebrovascular injury contributes substantially to risk, neurocognitive deficits are also observed in children without overt or silent cerebral infarctions, suggesting ...

Properties of solutions to linear differential equations with analytic coefficients in the unit disc

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
In this article we study the growth of solutions of linear differential equations with analytic coefficients in the unit disc. Our investigation is based on the behavior of the coefficients on a neighborhood of a point on the boundary of the unit disc.

Psychosocial Functioning After Pediatric Bone Sarcoma: Generic and Survivor‐Specific Outcomes in Adolescent and Young Adult Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric bone sarcoma patients and survivors may experience psychosocial challenges related to childhood cancer after their intensive, body‐altering treatment. This cross‐sectional study aimed to evaluate generic and survivor‐specific psychosocial outcomes in a national cohort of pediatric bone sarcoma patients and survivors, and ...

Growth of solutions of complex differential equations with coefficients of finite iterated order

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
In this paper, we investigate the growth of solutions to the differential equation $$ f^{(k)}+A_{k-1}(z)f^{(k-1)}+dots+A_0(z)f=F(z), $$ where the coefficients are of finite iterated order.

Growth of Solutions of Nonhomogeneous Linear Differential Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2009
This paper is devoted to studying growth of solutions of linear differential equations of type f(k)+Ak−1(z)f(k−1)+⋯+A1(z)f′+A0(z)f=H(z) where Aj (j=0,…,k−1) and H are entire functions of finite order.

Nucleation and growth of magnetite from solution

open access: yesNature Materials, 2013
The formation of crystalline materials from solution is usually described by the nucleation and growth theory, where atoms or molecules are assumed to assemble directly from solution. For numerous systems, the formation of the thermodynamically stable crystalline phase is additionally preceded by metastable intermediates .

Incidence and Severity of Carboplatin‐Associated Hearing Loss in Children With Cancer Assessed by the SIOP Boston 2012 Ototoxicity Criteria

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Platinum‐based chemotherapy is known to cause severe and debilitating hearing loss, but unlike cisplatin, the true incidence of carboplatin‐induced hearing loss remains unclear. We evaluated functional hearing outcomes in children receiving carboplatin to determine the incidence and severity of ototoxicity. Procedure We identified a

Effects of nutrient solutions on growth, yield and quality of yardlong bean plant (Vigna unguiculata subsp. sesquipedalis L.) grown in a hydroponic system

open access: yesHorticultural Science
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of three nutrient solutions (Hoagland, Knop, and Hydro Umat F) on the growth, yield, and fruit quality of hydroponically cultivated yardlong bean (Vigna unguiculata subsp. sesquipedalis L.). Results showed

BMT4me En Español: Multisite Feasibility and Usability Testing of a Spanish‐Language mHealth Adherence Support App for Spanish‐Speaking Caregivers of Children After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cancer Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Medication nonadherence during the first 100 days after pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and during oncology treatment increases risk for complications. BMT4me is a caregiver‐facing mobile health (mHealth) application providing medication reminders, symptom tracking, and note‐taking features to support ...
