Evaluation of Grain‐Growth Parameters

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1985
The complicated texture of a thin sheet of MgO and MgO‐doped Al 2 O 3 (∼15 pm) was statistically resolved into four typical grain geometries. Grain size distribution was related to the ratio of expressions describing the growth (or shrinkage) of ...

Growth Parameters and Substrate Treatment for the MOCVD Growth of ZnO

physica status solidi (a), 2005
AbstractZnO films were grown on sapphire substrates using vertical MOCVD system with DEZn and tertiary‐butanol as precursors, respectively. The benefits of substrate treatment on the microstructure and morphology of the film were shown. The influences of growth temperature and partial pressure ratio RVI/II on crystal quality were investigated in detail.

Parameter heterogeneity in growth regressions

Economics Letters, 2008
Abstract This paper explores the appropriateness of pooling many diverse countries together in growth regressions. It is shown that estimates are sensitive to small changes in the sample, and separating OECD and non-OECD countries can result in drastic differences.

Selection of growth parameters to define failure to thrive

Journal of Pediatric Nursing, 2003
Failure to thrive (FTT) is a syndrome of growth failure due to undernutrition. Determining whether an infant has FTT is based on the use of an anthropometric indicator and a selected cutoff value for that indicator. These anthropometric indicators include weight for age, weight for length, and length for age, and the cutoff values include the 10th, 5th,

Gaussian curvature as a parameter of biological surface growth

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1985
Many biological systems may profitably be studied as surface phenomena. Green's (1965, 1969) models of tip growth, Erickson's (1966) study of leaf growth, Van Essen & Maunsell's (1980) and Todd's (1982) models of brain growth, Greenspan's (1976) tumor growth model--all have an essential surface character.

Genetic architecture of growth curve parameters in chickens

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1991
Genetic improvement in growth of poultry has traditionally proceeded via selection for body weight at a fixed age. Due to increased maintenance costs and reproductive problems of adult broiler breeders, the potential for genetic manipulation of the growth curve has been receiving increased interest.
