Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) parameters for ensis directus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this report a Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) model for razor clams (Ensis directus) is presented. A DEB model is a generic model describing growth and development of individual organisms as a function of environmental conditions.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Response of Broccoli Transplants to LED Light during Short and Long-Term Storage

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
In broccoli production a big challenge is preparation of seedlings, which must be delivered during a strictly defined period to vegetable producers that are often in distant places.

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

Effects of Induction Heating on Temperature Distribution and Growth Rate in Large-Size SiC Growth System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
For design of large-size silicon carbide (SiC) growth system, it is essential to choose induction heating parameters such as frequency and power. Modeling and simulations have been performed on a 2-in SiC growth system to investigate the effects of ...

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

The dependence of growth rate of GaN buffer layer on growth parameters by metalorganic vapor-phase epitaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The growth rate of GaN buffer layers on sapphire grown by metalorganic vapor-phase epitaxy (MOVPE) in an atmospheric pressure, two-channel reactor was studied.
