Mathematical modelling of growth strata associated with fault-related fold structures

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1996
AbstractPrevious geometric models of fault-related folding have been limited in their ability to model sedimentation contemporaneous with contractional deformation. Waltham’s 1992 general forward modelling equation allows more realistic models of sedimentation to be combined with mathematical models of fault-bend folding, fault-propagation folding and ...

Varying Body Composition and Growth in Indian Adolescents from Different Socioeconomic Strata

Current Nutrition & Food Science, 2020
Background: Early growth stunting has been associated with modifications in body composition and its direction differs with the local environment. Data on the association between body composition with growth and the influence of socioeconomic strata (SES) on the same is scarce in Indian adolescents.

Inference of trishear-faulting processes from deformed pregrowth and growth strata

Journal of Structural Geology, 2007
Near surface strata deformed by propagation of a fault situated underneath these strata hold explicit records of fault activities. The delicate deformed strata exposed in investigation trenches for paleoseismologic study conform to fault-propagation folds growing above a blind thrust.

Rates of folding and faulting determined from growth strata

1992
Many upper crustal folds on the scale of 1–10 km in compressive mountain belts grow by kink-band migration as a result of fault-bend, fault-propagation, or box folding. One or both kink-band boundaries sweep through the rock as the kink bands widen during fold growth.

Growth of Strata in Early Organizational Development

American Journal of Sociology, 1962
A historical-sociological analysis is made of the intra-occupational differentiation and stratification processes occuring within the Methodist ministry, first in England, and then in the United States, which seem to have reflected the entire church's organizational development.

Unraveling tectonic and climatic controls on synorogenic growth strata (Northern Apennines, Italy)

Geological Society of America Bulletin, 2014
We develop a new high-resolution stratigraphic age model to unravel the contributions of tectonic and climatic processes on early to late Pleistocene synorogenic growth strata. We capitalize on excellent, continuous exposures along the flank of the Po foreland in northern Italy to elucidate hydrologic, geomorphic, and sedimentologic processes that are ...

Fold Growth Path Constrained by Growth Strata - a 2D Reconstruction of the Barreme Basin, SE France

Proceedings, 1995
In the external Alps of SE France, Eocene-Miocene foreland basins are preserved in a series of well exposed isolated fragments (often thrust sheet top basins) which contain progressively younger sediments towards the foreland.

Fracture-aperture size—frequency, spatial distribution, and growth processes in strata-bounded and non-strata-bounded fractures, Cambrian Mesón Group, NW Argentina

Journal of Structural Geology, 2013
Abstract In Cambrian Meson Group, NW Argentina, small faults and three opening-mode fracture sets defined by orientation and cement texture (Sets 1–3) formed sequentially in sandstone that most likely had constant mechanical properties throughout deformation.

Short-Term Dynamics of Second-Growth Mixed Mesophytic Forest Strata in West Virginia

Castanea, 2007
The short-term dynamics of mixed mesophytic forest strata in West Virginia were examined using similarity analysis and linear correlation of shared ordination space. The overstory tree, understory tree, shrub/vine, and herb strata were stable over a six year interval, whereas the tree seedling and sapling strata were unstable.

Fold amplification history unravelled from growth strata: the Dorood anticline, NW Persian Gulf

Journal of the Geological Society, 2011
Abstract: The origin and kinematic evolution of the Dorood growth anticline, a kilometre-scale fold located in the Iranian NW part of the Persian Gulf on the Zagros front, is discussed based on the geological interpretation of a seismic section and subsequent application of a number of techniques such as depth to detachment ...
