Variation in radial growth responses to drought among species, site, and canopy strata

Trees, 1997
Radial growth responses to drought were examined in the tree-ring records of six species growing within two locations of differing land-use history and soil moisture characteristics, and in overstory and understory canopy positions in northern Virginia.

Structural evolution of the northern Los Angeles basin, California, based on growth strata

Tectonics, 1996
Subsurface structure contour maps and cross sections show that the northern Los Angeles basin is underlain by a south facing monocline complicated by secondary faults and folds. The monocline and associated structures form a structural high, the northern Los Angeles shelf, which marks the northern margin of the Los Angeles central trough.

Temporal and lateral variation in the development of growth faults and growth strata in western Niger Delta, Nigeria

AAPG Bulletin, 2012
This study examines eight syndepositional faults and syntectonic sediments in five major fault blocks in western Niger Delta, offshore Nigeria, on three-dimensional seismic data. The initiation, lateral growth and retreat, periods of activity and quiescence, and decay of faulting around these blocks can be ascertained by analyzing a series of time ...

Growth of syndepositional faults in carbonate strata: Upper Permian Capitan platform, New Mexico, USA

Journal of Structural Geology, 2005
Abstract The Upper Permian Capitan platform, New Mexico, is cut by syndepositional faults and fractures. These are parallel to platform margin and cluster within strata that steepen and thicken abruptly into the basin. Faults are steep, dip-slip, have measurable displacements of up to 24 m, are typically associated with growth strata, and mostly tip ...

Geometric and kinematic modeling of detachment folds with growth strata based on Bézier curves

Journal of Structural Geology, 2009
Abstract In our geometric modeling, the inner layer of competent rock units in a detachment fold is approximated by several quadratic Bezier curves, which are joined together according to some geometrical rules, whereas the outer layers are calculated from the inner layer by parallel folding mechanism.

Analysis of Growth Within Distinct Strata of the Soybean Community1

Crop Science, 1971
Growth analysis techniques were used to study components of dry matter accumulation within distinct strata of a field soybean [Glycline max (L.) Merrill] community at Lafayette, Indiana in 1968. An analysis was made of leaf area development and dry matter accmnulation in leaf, supporting, pod wall, and seed components of lower, middle, and upper main ...

3D seismic interpretation of Early Miocene growth strata in the Northern Vienna Basin

2016

Growth curves by dominant strata in forests in southeastern Jalisco, Mexico

One of the most important functions of forests is their capacity to store carbon, which varies according to floristic composition, age, and tree density. To provide information that is useful for the carbon inventories, the construction of growth curves for dominant strata within the study area was set as the objective of this work.
