Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

Random spatial growth with paralyzing obstacles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We study models of spatial growth processes where initially there are sources of growth (indicated by the colour green) and sources of a growth-stopping (paralyzing) substance (indicated by red). The green sources expand and may merge with others (there is no `inter-green' competition).

In-silico modeling of early-stage biofilm formation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Several bacteria and bacteria strands form biofilms in different environmental conditions, e.g. pH, temperature, nutrients, etc. Biofilm growth, therefore, is an extremely robust process. Because of this, while biofilm growth is a complex process affected by several variables, insights into biofilm formation could be obtained studying simple schematic ...

The effect of the active substance of the fungicide (in vitro) on mycelium growth, germination of conidia and sclerotia of B. convoluta

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2009
In the years 2005–2007 in a collection of 527 cultivars of tall large-flowered irises (Iris × barbata group Elatior) in the Botanical Garden and Arboretum of MZLU in Brno the fungus Botrytis convolute infested the plants.

The multiple roles of the NlpC_P60 peptidase family in mycobacteria – an underexplored target for antimicrobial drug discovery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

Growth of Equally-Sized Insulin Crystals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Guidelines for growing insulin crystals of a uniform size are formulated and tested experimentally. A simple theoretical model based on the balance of matter predicts the time evolution of the crystal size and supersaturation. The time dependence of the size is checked experimentally.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

About linear threshold of instability Of faraday waves in fluid covered by thin film [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
The solution was found from Navier-Stokes equation and boundary conditions with interfacial tension as function of the film substance concentration. Here the method of Chen&Vinals is used. It was found that adding to coefficient leads to growth of critical value of the driving acceleration.

Effect of plant growth regulators on rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) growth under cadmium stress [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
In numerous developing countries, including Kazakhstan, the issue of soil contamination with cadmium is prominent due to the expansion of the mining and metallurgical sectors.
