The role of ornamental plants as hosts of Tomato chlorotic spot virus and its vector thrips affecting tomato production

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 171, Issue 5, Page 395-405, May 2023., 2023
Tomato chlorotic spot virus (TCSV), vectored by thrips, is an important disease of tomato in South Florida, USA. We investigated the presence of thrips and TCSV in 24 ornamental plant species. Thrips, mainly Frankliniella occidentalis and Frankliniella schultzei (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), were found in high abundance in ornamental flowering plants in a

Metastable Iron Sulfides Gram‐Dependently Counteract Resistant Gardnerella Vaginalis for Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 9, Issue 10, April 5, 2022., 2022
Metastable iron sulfides (mFeS) demonstrate a Gram‐dependent antibacterial activity by releasing polysulfide species that penetrate bacteria with thin wall. The polysulfides then disrupt glycolytic energy metabolism and synergize with iron to kill bacteria without inducing new drug resistance.

Conservation agriculture practices in a peanut cropping system: Effects on pod yield and soil penetration resistance

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2023
Conservation agriculture principles applied to peanut can reduce soil erosion and production costs when cultivated in rotation with sugarcane. Still, the problem with soil compaction is the leading cause of skepticism about the efficacy of this practice.

Genus Orthotospovirus in Costa Rica: A Central American case

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Fitopatología Mexican Journal of Phytopathology, 2023
The Orthotospovirus genus encompasses a range of economically significant and emerging plant viruses that affect a variety of crops globally. While the prevalence and characteristics of these phytopathogenic viruses are extensively documented in North ...

Electroproduction of psi' and polarized gluon distribution in a proton [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In order to get information about the polarized gluon distribution in a proton, we studied the electroproduction of \psi' in polarized electron and polarized proton collisions in the framework of the NRQCD factorization approach.

Use of silencing reporter and agroinfiltration transient assays to evaluate the potential of hpRNA construct to induce multiple tospovirus resistance

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2015
Tospoviruses are devastating plant viruses causing severe economic losses in a diverse range of crops worldwide. Here, we describe the development and evaluation of an RNA interference (RNAi) broad-spectrum virus resistance strategy based on a unique and

List of non‐EU viruses and viroids infecting potato (Solanum tuberosum) and other tuber‐forming Solanum species

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2020., 2020
Abstract The European Commission requested a pest categorisation of the non‐EU viruses and viroids of potato (hereafter referred to as viruses). As a first step, a systematic literature and database search was carried out to identify the viruses reported to naturally infect Solanum tuberosum and other tuber‐forming Solanum spp (hereafter referred to as

Longitudinal double-spin asymmetry for inclusive jet production in p+p collisions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report a new STAR measurement of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry A_LL for inclusive jet production at mid-rapidity in polarized p+p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 200 GeV. The data, which cover jet transverse momenta 5 < p_T

Metagenomic Analysis of RNA Viruses in Watermelon

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Agriculture International, 2022
Watermelon is one of the most consumed cucurbits worldwide. Its production, nevertheless, is threatened by different pathogens that compromise the development of plants and, consequently, fruits.
