On the Utilization of Shear Modified GTN Damage Model in Cold Rolling
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015Edge cracking is a commonly observed phenomenon in cold rolling process, but researchers appear to be far from fully understanding its failure mechanism due to the complex stress conditions of steel strip under the rolling condition. In this research, the shear modified GTN damage model coupled with Nahshon-Hutchinson shear damage mechanism was applied

Identification of material parameters of a shear modified GTN damage model by small punch test
International Journal of Fracture, 2020A new approach was put forward to identify the damage parameters of the shear modified GTN damage model proposed by Nahshon and Hutchinson (Eur J Mech Solid 27:10–17, 2008) by combining the artificial neural networks algorithm and small punch test. The factorial design method was used to analyze the influence of the parameters on the shape of load ...

Parameter Calibration of GTN Damage Model and Formability Analysis of 22MnB5 in Hot Forming Process
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2017Hot forming of high strength steel at elevated temperatures is an attractive technology to achieve the lightweight of vehicle body. The mechanical behavior of boron steel 22MnB5 strongly depends on the variation of temperature which makes the process design more difficult.

AN ANISOTROPIC EXTENSION FOR A THERMOVISCOPLASTIC GTN DUCTILE DAMAGE MODEL
International Journal for Multiscale Computational Engineering, 2023In this work, a thermoviscoplastic GTN ductile damage model is extended to account for anisotropic plastic behavior. The novel feature of the proposed model is the enrichment of a GTN model, with the Hill's yield criterion accounting for hardening, softening, strain-rate effect, plastic work heating, thermal diffusion, and void shearing mechanism.

An extended GTN model for indentation-induced damage
Computational Materials Science, 2017Abstract The damage of metallic alloys induced by tensile deformation can be well described by Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) model. However, damage growth under intense shear loading, which has been found in micro-/macro-indentation tests, cannot be captured by this model.

Comparison of GTN damage models for sheet metal forming
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University (Science), 2008The Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) damage model was developed basing on anisotropic yield criterion to predict the damage evolution for anisotropic voided ductile materials. Hill’s quadratic anisotropic yield criterion (1948) and Barlat’s 3-component anisotropic yield criterion (1989) were used to describe the anisotropy of the matrix.
