Structures of guaiacol and the guaiacol-argon van der waals complex from rotational spectroscopy of guaiacol isotopologues

Journal of Molecular Structure, 2021
Abstract High-resolution rotational spectra were recorded for guaiacol and eight isotopologues as well as the guaiacol-argon van der Waals complex using a resonant-cavity Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. The monomer spectra were assigned to an anti-syn conformation with an internal hydrogen bond from the hydroxyl group to the methoxy oxygen.

Guaiacol production by Alicyclobacillus and comparison of two guaiacol detection methods

Food Control, 2013
Abstract Alicyclobacillus cause spoilage of acidic products through guaiacol production, which causes a medicinal or disinfectant-like off-flavour and/or odour in the products. The aim of this study was to determine the guaiacol producing abilities of Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris and Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius under different growth ...

Colorimetric Assay for Guaiacol O-Methyltransferase

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1976
A relatively simple colorimetric assay was developed for guaiacol O-methyltransferase. Monomethylated phenolic acid substrates are enzymatically methylated to their corresponding dimethoxyl compounds; S-adenosylmethionine serves as the methyl donor. Enzymatic activity is measured by colorimetric assay of the monomethylated (nonreacted) substrate by ...

ON GUAIACOL SOLUTIONS : I. THE ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITY OF SODIUM AND POTASSIUM GUAIACOLATES IN GUAIACOL.

The Journal of general physiology, 2010
1. Measurements on the densities, viscosities, dielectric constants, and specific conductances of pure anhydrous and water-saturated guaiacol at 25 degrees C. are reported. 2. The solubility of water in guaiacol at 25 degrees C., and its effect on the electrical conductivity of a sodium guaiacolate solution is given. 3.
