Oxidation potentials of guanine, guanosine and guanosine-5′-monophosphate: Theory and experiment

Electrochimica Acta, 2019
Abstract Guanine, having lower one-electron oxidation potential than other nucleobases, is of relevance to oxidative degradation of nucleic acids in mutagenesis, carcinogenesis, and aging. Here we compare oxidation potentials of guanine (G), guanosine (Guo), deoxyguanosine (dGuo), guanosine -5′- monophosphate (GMP) and 2′- deoxyguanosine -5 ...

Neurotrophic Effects of Extracellular Guanosine

Nucleosides, Nucleotides and Nucleic Acids, 2008
Central nervous system (CNS) astrocytes release guanosine extracellularly, that exerts trophic effects. In CNS, extracellular guanosine (GUO) stimulates mitosis, synthesis of trophic factors, and cell differentiation, including neuritogenesis, is neuroprotective, and reduces apoptosis due to several stimuli.

Reaction of guanosine, 2′-deoxyguanosine and guanosine-5′-monophosphate with glucose

Carbohydrate Research, 1994
Reactions of reducing sugars with amino acids, proteins or simple amines have been thoroughly investigated. This area of research is of great interest not only in food chemistry but also in medical biochemistry. Evidence has been accumulated that nonenzymatic glycosylation is of relevance in diabetic complications and probably in age related changeslT2.

Metabolism of Guanosine in Human Erythrocytes

Vox Sanguinis, 1985
Abstract. The metabolism of guanosine in human erythrocytes has been studied in two different experimental systems – direct incubation and dialysis incubation – the latter allowing continuous addition and removal of substances. Intra‐ and extracellular purine compounds were analyzed using high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Reactions of ethyleneimine with guanosine and deoxyguanosine

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 1984
Ethyleneimine was reacted with guanosine in aqueous medium and the products were purified by Sephadex G-10 and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Two products were identified by UV-spectroscopy: imidazole-ring opened 7-alkylguanosine and 1-alkylguanosine, accounting for 80% and 14% of all adduct radioactivity, respectively.

Guanosine diphosphatase

1994
Abstract The nucleotide sequence of the GDPase gene (GenBank accession# L79560) reveals a 1554 bp open reading frame encoding a polypeptide of 518 amino acids4. Three potential N-glycosylation sites are present in the sequence. Hydropathy plots suggest that it is a type II membrane proteins with a hydrophobic stretch of 16 amino acids ...
