Conformation, hydrogen bonding and aggregate formation of guanosine 5′-monophosphate and guanosine in dimethylsulfoxide [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1994
The tetrabutylammonium salt of guanosine 5'-monophosphate (5'-GMP) dissolves in DMSO-d6 forming aggregated species which exhibit some properties of reverse micelles. 1H NOESY experiments show that the 5'-GMP adopts the syn conformation about the glycosidic bond.

Cyclic 3'-5' guanosine monophosphate-dependent activity in Leishmania amazonensis

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2003
Although there are some data concerning the nitric oxide and the cyclic 3'-5'guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) signaling pathway in trypanosomatids, there is no report about the cGMP-dependent enzymatic activity identification.

Cyclic guanosine monophosphate does not inhibit gonadotropin-induced activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 3/1 in pig cumulus-oocyte complexes

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2015
BackgroundRecent results indicate a key role for cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the regulation of oocyte meiotic arrest in preovulatory mammalian follicles.

Spontaneous assembly of an organic-inorganic nucleic acid Z-DNA double-helix structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Herein, we report a hybrid polyoxometalate organic–inorganic compound, Na2[(HGMP)2Mo5O15]⋅7 H2O (1; where GMP=guanosine monophosphate), which spontaneously assembles into a structure with dimensions that are strikingly similar to those of the naturally ...

Red blood cell endothelial nitric oxide synthase: A major player in regulating cardiovascular health

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Red blood cells (RBCs) have traditionally been seen as simple carriers of gases and nutrients in the body. One important non‐canonical function of RBCs in the cardiovascular system is the regulation of nitric oxide (NO) metabolism. It has been shown that RBCs can scavenge NO, transport NO metabolites and produce NO in hypoxic conditions ...

The role of Phosphodiesterase-1 and its natural product inhibitors in Alzheimer’s disease: A review

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Phosphodiesterase-1 (PDE1) is a versatile enzyme that has surprisingly received considerable attention as a possible therapeutic target in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) because it maintains the homeostasis of 3ʹ,5ʹ-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and 3ʹ,

On the parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel system with signal-dependent motilities: a paradigm for global boundedness and steady states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper is concerned with a parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel system where both diffusive and chemotactic coefficients (motility functions) depend on the chemical signal density. This system was originally proposed by Keller and Segel in \cite{KS-1971-JTB2} to describe the aggregation phase of {\it Dictyostelium discoideum} cells in response to the ...

Modelling of Dictyostelium Discoideum Movement in Linear Gradient of Chemoattractant [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter,Vol. 13, pp. 8209-8222 (2017), 2018
Chemotaxis is a ubiquitous biological phenomenon in which cells detect a spatial gradient of chemoattractant, and then move towards the source. Here we present a position-dependent advection-diffusion model that quantitatively describes the statistical features of the chemotactic motion of the social amoeba {\it Dictyostelium discoideum} in a linear ...

The cGAS-STING-interferon regulatory factor 7 pathway regulates neuroinflammation in Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
Interferon regulatory factor 7 plays a crucial role in the innate immune response. However, whether interferon regulatory factor 7-mediated signaling contributes to Parkinson’s disease remains unknown.
