A Novel Guard Interval Approach for NFDM Transmission

CLEO 2023, 2023
A novel reduced-complexity scheme of guard interval based on cyclic extension for NFDM system with continuous spectrum is introduced, increasing the transmission reach by 300 km for 16QAM signal and 100 km for 32QAM.

Efficient guard interval reduction for coherent optical OFDM

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2014
We propose an efficient dispersion compensation to reduce the guard interval in coherent optical-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems. The proposed algorithm compensates dispersion using overlapped frequency domain equalizer (OFDE), timing offset at the transmitter. Simulations verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.

Spectral Precoding for OFDM without Guard Interval Insertion

2016 IEEE 83rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2016
In this paper, the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing signal without inserting guard subintervals (NG-OFDM) is considered and combined with spectral precoding to achieve high spectrum compactness. In order to reject interblock interference among received NG-OFDM blocks over dispersive channels, a guard subinterval in each received block is ...

Single Carrier Block Transmission Without Guard Interval

2006 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2006
This paper proposes a simple detection scheme for a single carrier block transmission (SCBT) without guard interval (GI). Although the SCBT without the GI can significantly increase bandwidth efficiency, the received signal suffers from inter-block interference (IBI) and inter-symbol interference (ISI), which cannot be effectively equalized by a ...

A Waveform for 5G: Guard Interval DFT-s-OFDM

2015 IEEE Globecom Workshops (GC Wkshps), 2015
Delay spread can be detrimental to communication systems. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)/Discrete Fourier Transform-spread-OFDM (DFT-s- OFDM) based systems (for e.g., Long Term Evolution (LTE), WiFi, etc.) tackle delay spread by adding a cyclic prefix (CP) before the start of the OFDM symbol.

Perfect equalization for DMT systems without guard interval

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2002
We propose a new, low-complexity frequency-domain equalizer for discrete multitone (DMT) systems, which, in the absence of a guard interval, utilizes existing redundancy in the frequency-domain to completely eliminate intersymbol and interchannel interference.

New OFDM system without guard interval

2009 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2009
This paper proposes a new OFDM system without a guard interval (GI) based on the useful characteristics of IFFT operation. The system utilizes the pilot signal to capture the channel information as well as GI does. Therefore, the bandwidth efficiency of the system can be improved.

An adaptive OFDM system with variable guard interval

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
Symbol guard interval is almost indispensable to deal with ISI caused by channel delay spreading in wireless OFDM transmission systems. However, the length of guard interval is usually fixed in conventional OFDM system, which decreases the power and spectrum efficiency considerably, especially in a mobile environment.

Chained Turbo Equalization for Block Transmission without Guard Interval

2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference, 2010
This paper proposes chained turbo equalization (CHATUE) algorithm, a simple detection scheme for block transmission without guard interval (GI), where turbo equalizers for the several consecutive frames exchange information about the interference components. Although the block transmission without GI can significantly increase bandwidth efficiency, the
