Clean Cut (adaptive, multimodal surgical infection prevention programme) for low‐resource settings: a prospective quality improvement study

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
Clean Cut is a multimodal, adaptive, checklist‐based infection prevention programme designed to improve compliance with six critical perioperative infection prevention practices. After introducing the programme at five hospitals in Ethiopia, compliance with critical infection prevention standards significantly improved and the relative risk of ...

Interference Mitigation Technique for Coexistence of Pulse-Based UWB and OFDM

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2008
Ultra-wideband (UWB) is a useful radio technique for sharing frequency bands between radio systems. It uses very short pulses to spread spectrum. However, there is a potential for interference between systems using the same frequency bands at close range.

A randomised pilot equivalence trial to evaluate diamagnetically enhanced transdermal delivery of key ground substance components in comparison to an established transdermal non-steroidal anti-inflammatory formulation in males with prior knee injury.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
ObjectiveThis pilot study assessed the efficacy of a knee guard device, which used magnetophoresis to transdermally deliver Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Hyaluronic Acid in a cohort of individuals with prior knee injury.

Use of a guard interval in OFDM on multipath channels

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1994
The use of a guard interval in OFDM is analysed for a two path channel with white Gaussian noise. A system with zero forcing equaliser and no guard interval is used as a reference when assessing the performance. The results show that a system without a guard interval has a significantly lower bit error rate and requires less bandwidth.

Time Reversal in a MISO OFDM system: Guard Interval design, dimensioning and synchronisation aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
International audienceThis article presents the way to combine TR and OFDM, either in the time domain or in the frequency domain by adding a filter at the transmitter side.

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Alamouti code based on block repetition in FBMC/OQAM systems

open access: yesDigital Communications and Networks, 2022
In this paper, we address the Alamouti code in Filter-Bank Multicarrier with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (FBMC/OQAM) and propose a novel block-wise Alamouti code, in which a repeated block is designed to eliminate the imaginary interference ...

Reducing the out-of-band radiation of OFDM using an extended guard interval [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002
We investigate the spectrum, out-of-band radiation (OBR) and the use of extended guard interval (EGI) to reduce the out-of-band radiation of an OFDM signal when passing through different nonlinear devices. Spectra of the OFDM signal with different EGI lengths after passing through nonlinear devices are obtained through computer simulations ...

Analisa Simulasi Performansi Penggunaan Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing pada Sistem Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
