Guayule

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1981
Abstract The microstructure of both GR and NR is comprised of cis-polyisoprene units, resulting in a physicochemical similarity between the two rubbers. However, the processing and vulcanizate properties of guayule and NR differ when the former is substituted in standard NR formulations.

Immunogenicity studies of guayule and guayule latex in occupationally exposed workers

Industrial Crops and Products, 2010
Abstract Type I Hevea brasiliensis rubber latex allergy is managed by avoidance, using synthetic and alternative latex (such as Parthenium argentatum , guayule) products. This study investigates the ability of high-dose occupational exposure to guayule shrub/homogenate/latex to induce guayule-specific antibody responses in employees (Yulex ...

Ultrafiltration of Guayule Resin

Journal of Membrane Science, 1995
Abstract The ability of ultrafiltration membranes to effect a separation of the volatle essential oil fraction of guayule resin from other volatile constituents is experimentally demonstrated. For a methanol extraction of guayule resin, 200 and 500 molecular weight cut-off cellulose triacetate ultrafiltration membranes produced a permeate rich in ...

Guayule future development

Industrial Crops and Products, 2005
Abstract Successful commercialization of guayule ( Parthenium argentatum Gray) depends on utilizing as much of the plant as possible. Initially, latex is the primary product, but the residual plant material or bagasse would contribute to guayule's future economic development.

Chemical Investigations in Guayule. I. Essential Oil of Guayule, Parthenium argentatum, Gray

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1944
Aside from the identification of α-pinene by Alexander, very little is known about the essential oil of the guayule rubber plant. This meager chemical knowledge could not furnish a sound basis for the understanding of the injurious effects of the oil on rubber, of its role in the plant, and of its possibilities as a by-product in the guayule rubber ...
