Stub column tests of cold‐formed steel channel sections with different stiffeners

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 2421-2425, September 2026.
Abstract A new type of cold‐formed steel channel section incorporating novel dovetail slot‐shaped stiffeners has recently been developed. These stiffeners not only enhance the section against local buckling but also function as connectors, enabling two individual channel sections to be formed into one built‐up section.

Explainable Ensemble Learning for Web‐Crippling Resistance of Sigma Cold‐Formed Steel Sections under Interior–Two–Flange Loading

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 566-571, September 2026.
Abstract Cold‐formed steel (CFS) sigma sections are common in floors and purlins but are prone to web crippling under interior‐two‐flange (ITF) bearing. Equations in AISI S100, EN 1993‐1‐3 and related standards were mainly calibrated for channel sections and give poor, highly scattered predictions for sigma profiles.

Explainable Boosting Machines for Web‐Crippling Resistance Prediction of Cold‐Formed Sigma Sections under End‐Two‐Flange Loading

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 2997-3002, September 2026.
Abstract Cold‐formed steel (CFS) sigma sections are highly efficient but vulnerable to web crippling under concentrated bearing loads. Current design provisions in AISI S100, AS/NZS 4600 and EN 1993‐1‐3 are largely calibrated for channel and Z‐sections and often give conservative or scattered predictions for sigma sections under end–two–flange (ETF ...

Experimental investigation on novel cold‐formed steel built‐up section stub columns using an interlocking design

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 2252-2258, September 2026.
Abstract The interlocking design concept facilitates a demountable and reusable connection method that eliminates the need for traditional connectors. This paper presents the development of a novel cold‐formed steel built‐up section using an interlocking design and provides an experimental investigation into the structural performance of stub columns ...

Applied Element Modelling of Out‐Of‐Plane Instability in Boundary Elements of Thin RC Walls

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 11, Page 2800-2817, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent earthquakes in Chile (2010) and New Zealand (2011) caused extensive damage to buildings featuring reinforced concrete (RC) structural walls, with observed failure modes including out‐of‐plane instability of slender walls. This buckling‐type response under combined in‐plane and out‐of‐plane loading has also been documented in ...
