Laryngeal Edema Following Ingestion of Glyphosate Potassium Salt

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Although glyphosate potassium salt formulations are considered less systemically toxic, they can cause direct upper airway mucosal injury, leading to severe laryngeal edema. Hoarseness after ingestion should prompt early laryngeal evaluation for impending airway compromise.

Cerebral arterial air embolism complicating robotic guided lung biopsy: A call for vigilance

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine Case Reports
Flexible bronchoscopy has been extensively studied and is associated with a relatively low incidence of mortality and morbidity. Robotic bronchoscopy, a more recent advancement, has demonstrated non-inferiority to transthoracic needle lung biopsy and ...

Proximal Tracheal Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma Complicated by Early Anastomotic Stenosis—A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Proximal tracheal mucoepidermoid carcinoma may remain occult despite prolonged upper‐airway symptoms and normal flexible nasoendoscopy. Stridor following tracheal resection should prompt assessment of the anastomosis, as early postoperative stenosis caused by A‐frame deformity and granulation tissue may be successfully managed with combined ...

Unusual Complication of Pneumoperitoneum After Robotic Bronchoscopy on the Monarch\u3csup\u3eTM\u3c/sup\u3e Platform [PDF]

open access: yes
Introduction: Bronchoscopy with associated mediastinal lymph node sampling and biopsy of pulmonary lesions is critical in the diagnosis of pulmonary disease, such as cancer or inflammatory conditions, as well as in oncologic staging.

Economic value and clinical role of minimally invasive, biopsy‐based diagnostics in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 134, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Precision oncology requires diagnostic sampling that delivers molecularly actionable material quickly and safely. In non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), core‐needle biopsy (CNB) remains common. Yet fine‐needle aspiration (FNA) has re‐emerged with rapid on‐site evaluation (ROSE), optimized cell blocks, and next‐generation sequencing.

Primary pulmonary salivary gland‐type tumors in cytopathology practice: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 134, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Primary pulmonary salivary gland‐type tumors (PSGTs) are rare but clinically significant tumors that originate from the submucosal glands of the tracheobronchial tree. Cytologic samples taken during bronchoscopy are a key component of preoperative evaluation. However, cytologic diagnosis remains challenging because of the submucosal

Bronchoscopy-guided antimicrobial therapy for cystic fibrosis

open access: yes
Background: Early diagnosis and treatment of lower respiratory tract infections is the mainstay of management of lung disease in cystic fibrosis (CF). When sputum samples are unavailable, diagnosis relies mainly on cultures from oropharyngeal specimens ...

Comparison of In‐Office and General Anesthesia Biopsies for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in a Public Healthcare System

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 48, Issue 10, Page 2792-2799, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background We compared treatment delays, costs, and management impact between oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) patients undergoing in‐office versus general anesthesia panendoscopy‐guided biopsies in two large tertiary centers in a public healthcare system. Methods All OPSCC patients included were treated between 2010 and 2024 with

Severe Intraoperative Airway Leak Revealing Undiagnosed Mounier‐Kuhn Syndrome in an Elderly Patient [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT Severe peri‐cuff leakage after endotracheal intubation may be the first sign of previously unrecognized Mounier‐Kuhn syndrome. After tube, cuff, circuit, and equipment problems are excluded, prompt bronchoscopy can define airway anatomy and guide cuff repositioning.

Cytomegalovirus in Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid: A Predictor of Outcome in Immunocompromised Patients

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a prevalent herpesvirus that remains typically asymptomatic in immunocompetent individuals but can cause severe, potentially life‐threatening disease in immunocompromised patients. This study assessed the impact of CMV‐associated lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs), diagnosed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR ...
