Magnetohydrodynamic Waves in Wave Guides

The Physics of Fluids, 1959
Propagation of magnetohydrodynamic waves is investigated in a fluid bounded by a cylindrical surface of constant, but not necessarily circular, cross section. The fluid is assumed to be nonviscous and perfectly conducting with a constant magnetic field applied parallel to the walls of the cylinder.

Exceptional Guided Waves

2021 XXXIVth General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS), 2021
The planar interface of two dissimilar partnering mediums, at least one of which is anisotropic, can guide an exceptional surface wave that propagates in an isolated direction. In order for this to be achieved, the constitutive parameters of the partnering mediums must satisfy certain constraints.

Nonlinear Guided Wave Phenomena

Topical Meeting on Optical Bistability (OB3), 1985
Integrated optics waveguides are ideal media for nonlinear optical interactions because high power densities can be maintained over centimeter propagation distances. Recent work in our laboratory, as well as that of other workers in the field will be reviewed. Liquid crystal media placed on top of thin films provide simple nonlinear waveguides in which
