Propagation of Waves in Helical Wave Guides [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 1958
The field configuration near the conductors of a helical wave guide is obtained from the solution of the spatial-wave equation for a developed helix. This solution is first obtained for the case of tape conductors and then adapted to elliptical (including circular) conductors by conformal transformation.

Clean‐Limit 2D Superconductivity in a Thick Exfoliated Kagome Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports clean‐limit 2D superconductivity in a thick kagome system, analogous to the 3D case. It observes a drop in superfluid stiffness near the superconducting transition and a cusp‐like feature in the angular dependence of the upper critical field.

Fiber-Optic Sensor-Based Remote Acoustic Emission Measurement in a 1000 °C Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Recently, the authors have proposed a remote acoustic emission (AE) measurement configuration using a sensitive fiber-optic Bragg grating (FBG) sensor. In the configuration, the FBG sensor was remotely bonded on a plate, and an optical fiber was used as ...

Transparent Inorganic–Organic Bilayer Neural Electrode Array and Integration to Miniscope System for In Vivo Calcium Imaging and Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the BioCLEAR system, a highly transparent and conductive neural electrode array composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and doped PEDOT:PSS, enabling neural recordings with minimal optical artifacts. When integrated with a GRIN lens, this cost‐effective neural implant allows simultaneous electrophysiological recording and GCaMP6‐based ...

A Graphical Analysis Method of Guided Wave Modes in Rails

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The cross-section of a rail has a complex geometry, and there are many propagating modes of ultrasonic guided waves in a rail. The analysis of mode shapes or the cross-sectional wave structure is of high significance to the design of an appropriate wave ...

The Elastic Wave Propagation in Rectangular Waveguide Structure: Determination of Dispersion Curves and Their Application in Nondestructive Techniques

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The use of mechanic waves for assessing structural integrity is a well-known non-destructive technique (NDT). The ultrasound applied in the guided wave in particular requires significant effort in order to understand the complexities of the propagation ...

Reevaluating the Activity of ZIF‐8 Based FeNCs for Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Though receiving much attention, the field of electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) to ammonia is marked by doubts about whether this reaction is possible in aqueous media. This work sheds light on this question for iron single‐atom on N‐doped carbon (FeNC) catalysts—a class of well‐known catalysts that is also worth testing for the sister

RESEARCH ON OPTIMAL SELECTION OF UITRASONIC GUIDED WAVE DETECTION FREQUENCY IN DIRT PIPES BASED ON CHIRP EXCITATION

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2019
It is required to conduct repeated multi-frequency test to determine the best detection frequency when taking traditional tone burst as the guided wave excitation of dirt pipe, which had problems of blindness, time and resources consuming.

Enhancement of the Excitation Efficiency of the Non-Contact Magnetostrictive Sensor for Pipe Inspection by Adjusting the Alternating Magnetic Field Axial Length

open access: yesSensors, 2014
The non-contact magnetostrictive sensor (MsS) has been widely used in the guided wave testing of pipes, cables, and so on. However, it has a disadvantage of low excitation efficiency.
