Performance of multiparameter distributions in estimating rainfall extremes and deriving IDF equations in Paraná [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Recursos Hídricos
Frequency analysis of rainfall involves selecting a probabilistic model to represent sample data and perform design estimates. Various probability distributions are available for this purpose, but there is no general consensus on the most appropriate one.

Sensitivity Analysis in Mean Annual Sediment Yield Modeling with Respect to Rainfall Probability Distribution Functions

open access: yesLand, 2022
An accurate estimation of the mean annual sediment yield from basins contributes to optimizing water resources planning and management. More specifically, both reservoir sedimentation and the damage caused to infrastructures fall within its field of ...

Consumer Preferences for Craft Beer: The Interplay of Localness and Advertising Language

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores the influence of the language of the label, origin of production, and origin of brewing ingredients on Croatian consumers' preferences and willingness to pay for organic craft beer. Employing an online survey and a choice experiment among 223 Croatian alcohol consumers, we find that while there's a willingness to pay a ...

Estudo das precipitações máximas anuais em Presidente Prudente Study of the maximum annual precipitation in Presidente Prudente

Universal Statistics of the Critical Depinning Force of Elastic Systems in Random Media

open access: yes, 2004
We study the rescaled probability distribution of the critical depinning force of an elastic system in a random medium. We put in evidence the underlying connection between the critical properties of the depinning transition and the extreme value ...

Regional Differences in U.S. Consumer Preferences for Native Woody Shrubs With Varying Aesthetic Characteristics

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Native plants offer a variety of aesthetic (e.g., fall colour, fruit, flowers) and functional benefits (e.g., pollinator friendly, wildlife friendly, water management). How these benefits influence consumer choice and perceived value of native versus introduced plants is not well understood.

The Kumaraswamy G Exponentiated Gumbel Type-2 Distribution

open access: yesAfrika Statistika, 2017
The distribution due to Okorie et al. (2016) is further extended to a wider family of distribution called the Kumaraswamy Generalized Exponentiated Gumbel type-2 distribution. Twenty two distributions are identified as sub-models of the new distribution.

Does ESG Investing Pay off? Comparing the Performance of ESG and Traditional ETFs Across European and US Markets

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Investors have long recognized the importance of firms in promoting sustainability, leading to the rise of socially responsible investment (SRI). Specifically, there is a growing preference for exchange‐traded funds (ETFs) that prioritize environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

On Testing the Exponential and Gumbel Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Consider the statistical experiment (ℝ B, {H β: β ∈ ℝ }), where Hβ denotes the generalized Pareto distribution given by the von Mises parametrization and H 0 is the standard exponential distribution. We investigate the two-sided testing problem H 0 against H β, β≠0. For that testing problem an asymptotically uniformly optimal test is established.
