Extensive training extends numerical abilities of guppies
Animal Cognition, 2014Recent studies on animal mathematical abilities suggest that all vertebrates show comparable abilities when they are given spontaneous preference tests, such as selecting the larger number of food items, but that mammals and birds generally achieve much better performance than fish when tested with training procedures.

Carcinogenesis studies on guppies.
National Cancer Institute monograph, 1984Guppies (Lebistes reticulatus) were used as models for the screening of potentially carcinogenic substances. These fish, a simple, readily accessible type, are sensitive toward carcinogens. Using this model, we performed studies on the morphological effects of a few water-soluble chemicals.

At-Home Guppy Population Dynamics
2023I conducted an at-home study on guppies (Poecilia reticulata) as a follow-up study to a lab in BIOL 306 2022W1 on Population Dynamics that featured the confused flour beetle (Tribolium confusum) and a way to connect my Trinidadian heritage with my academic pursuits as a BIOL Major.
