Abstract The heartwood of Calophyllum scriblitifolium Henderson and Wyatt-Smith is shown to contain three new structurally related xanthones. These are 6-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbutanyl)1,5-dihydroxyxanthone, 6-(4-hydroxy-3-methylbut-2-enyl)1,5-dihydroxyxanthone and 6-(3,3-dimethylallyl)1,5-dihydroxyxanthone.

The biflavonoids of Garcinia volkensii (Guttiferae)

Abstract In addition to the known biflavonoids GB-1a, GB-2a and morelloflavone, the heartwood of Garcinia volkensii Engl. contains volkensiflavone, a new flavanone-flavone whose constituent units are naringenin and apigenin.

Abstract 4-Methoxy-2,3-methylenedioxyxanthone, 4-hydroxy-2,3-methylenedioxyxanthone, 2,3-dimethoxy-4-hydroxyxanthone, 3,4-dihydroxy-2-methoxyxanthone, 1,3-dimethoxy-5-hydroxyxanthone and 1,5-dihydroxy-3-methoxyxanthone were isolated from two Kielmeyera species. The structures were determined by interconversions and spectrometric methods.
