Effects of Boric Acid Concentration and Shading on Growth, Leaf Physiology, and Anatomy of Guzmania [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 2006
Guzmania lingulata (L.) Mez. `Cherry' were grown in coco chips and fertigated with half-strength Hoagland solution containing various concentrations of boric acid. Excessive boron induced changes in growth, relative chlorophyll content, and leaf anatomy were investigated.

Patterns of calcium oxalate crystals in young tropical leaves: a possible role as an anti-herbivory defense

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 1999
Calcium oxalate crystal formation and leaf toughness were measured and compared in five species, (Cyclanthus subpalmata, Pandanus leram, Crinum amabile, Heliconia longiflora and Guzmania zahnii) pre-selected for known leaf raphide production and ...

Hierdoor is forse energiebesparing mogelijk. Dit neemt verder toe naarmate er wijdere temperatuur grenzen worden gebruikt.

First report of the genus Systelloderes (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Enicocephalidae) in Guzmania multiflora (Bromeliaceae) in Colombia

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Entomología, 2018
The relationship between purely predacious Enicocephalidae and plants is relatively unknown. This study reports the occurrence of two species of Systelloderes in Guzmania multiflora (Bromeliaceae) from a mountain forest of Colombia. This was conducted in the Reserva Forestal Protectora de las Cuencas Hidrográficas de Rio Blanco y Quebrada Olivares ...

Genetic relationships and variation in reproductive strategies in four closely related bromeliads adapted to neotropical ‘inselbergs': Alcantarea glaziouana, A. regina, A. geniculata and A. imperialis (Bromeliaceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background and Aims Bromeliads (Bromeliaceae) adapted to rock outcrops or ‘inselbergs' in neotropical rain forests have been identified as suitable plant models for studying population divergence and speciation during continental plant radiations. Little

Systematics of Bromelioideae (Bromeliaceae)—Evidence from Molecular and Anatomical Studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A reconstruction of the phylogeny of Bromeliaceae based on sequence data from three noncoding chloroplast DNA markers (trnL intron, trnT–trnL, and trnT–trnF intergenic spacer [IGS]) is presented, including 26 genera and 33 species.
