AM CVn Systems as Optical, X-Ray and GWR Sources [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 2004
AbstractWe discuss the model for the Galactic sample of the AM CVn systems with Porb, ≤ 1500 s that can be detected in the optical and/or X-ray bands and may be resolved by the gravitational waves detector LISA. At 3 ≲ P ≲ 10 min all detectable systems are X-ray sources. At P ≳ 10 min most systems are only detectable in the V-band.

Controlled Interfacial Stress Platform for Electrochemical‐Mechanical Coupling Measurements

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Understanding electrochemical‐mechanical coupling in solid‐state batteries is vital for predicting their performance, degradation, and safety. Conventional screw‐jig platforms provide data but lack insights into stress effects on individual couplings.

“Will you be there for me?” Social support from family and friends during cold case sexual assault prosecutions

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract If sexual assault survivors report the assault to the criminal legal system, they often need informal support from family and friends throughout the long and frequently retraumatizing process of investigation and prosecution. This study is part of a long‐term community‐based participatory action research project in a predominately Black ...

Spatial Analysis of COVID-19 and Exploration of Its Environmental and Socio-Demographic Risk Factors Using Spatial Statistical Methods: A Case Study of Iran

open access: yesHealth in Emergencies & Disasters Quarterly, 2020
Background: Iran detected its first COVID-19 case in February 2020 in Qom province, which rapidly spread to other cities in the country. Iran, as one of those countries with the highest number of infected people, has officially reported 1812 deaths from ...

Perturbative Renormalization of Weak-Hamiltonian Four-Fermion Operators with Overlap Fermions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The renormalization of the most general dimension-six four-fermion operators without power subtractions is studied at one loop in lattice perturbation theory using overlap fermions.

Multi‐Scale Drivers of Food‐Water‐Energy Related Ecosystem Services in the Context of Land Degradation: Insights From the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei Agglomeration

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Land degradation poses significant challenges to maintaining food–water–energy (FWE) security, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions. The ecosystem services (ES) related to FWE are critical for sustainable regional development. Yet, rapid urbanization in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region has altered land use and ecological patterns ...

RAINFALL MODELING USING THE GEOGRAPHICALLY WEIGHTED POISSON REGRESSION METHOD

open access: yesBarekeng
Rainfall is an important parameter in understanding the climate and environment in the Malang Regency area. This research aims to model the distribution of rainfall in this region using the Geographically Weighted Poisson Regression (GWPR) method.

MGWR: A Python Implementation of Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression for Investigating Process Spatial Heterogeneity and Scale

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2019
Geographically weighted regression (GWR) is a spatial statistical technique that recognizes that traditional ‘global’ regression models may be limited when spatial processes vary with spatial context.

Inter-rater agreement between humans and computer in quantitative assessment of computed tomography after cardiac arrest

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
BackgroundHead computed tomography (CT) is used to predict neurological outcome after cardiac arrest (CA). The current reference standard includes quantitative image analysis by a neuroradiologist to determine the Gray-White-Matter Ratio (GWR) which is ...
