Physical and mechanical properties of gypsum-based composites reinforced with PVA and PP fibers

Construction and Building Materials, 2018
Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polypropylene (PP) fibers on such properties of gypsum-based composites as workability, hydration kinetics, flexural strength and toughness. In recent decades, polymeric fibers have been widely applied in construction industry due to their good performance.

A Review on Gypsum-Based Composites Reinforced With Palm Fibers in Construction Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermophysics, 2022
Gypsum-based composite is a widely used material in construction applications; it is a traditional material that is frequently used in non-structural and decoration, such as dry walls and ceilings, because to its benefits, which include environmental ...

Thermal behaviour of gypsum based composites

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2007
DTA/TG and X-ray investigations were carried out on different building composites in order to examine their relative hydration processes. The presence of lime, hemihydrate gypsum, ferosilicate, and some other wastes as leaner and hydrophobic additive in different proportions into composites provokes hydration reactions, leading to calcium silicate ...

The Preparation and Performance of Gypsum-Based Composites

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
Gypsum-based composites was produced using gypsum power(cement), PVA, white latex and sawdust via pouring process. The influences of water/ cement ratio, PVA/ cement ratio and glue/ cement ratio on release time, density and impact strength of the gypsum-based composites were investigated through orthogonal experiment.

Development of gypsum‐based composites with tensile strain‐hardening characteristics

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2020
Abstract Brittle nature of gypsum restrains its wide application in construction industry. For improvement, a novel type of composite material, gypsum‐based engineered cementitious composites (GS‐ECC), was developed using specially chosen polyethylene (PE) fibers. This study investigated the rheological and mechanical properties of GS‐

Gypsum-based fibre-reinforced composites: an alternative to timber

Construction and Building Materials, 1994
Investigations have been carried out on the development of natural and glass-fibre-reinforced boards based on gypsum plaster produced by calcining natural as well as by-product gypsum. The characteristics of β -hemihydrate plaster and high-strength water-resistant gypsum binder developed from phos-phogypsum and the plasterboards/composites (sisal ...

Research on Contributing Factors of Gypsum-Based Composite Material Performance

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The rules of various factors influence the gypsum-based composite material(GBCM) performance are studied, using orthogonal experiment from the material components, retarder dosages and different w/c ratio. The results show that the strength and softness coefficient of GBCM are obviously higher than that of pure gypsum.

Assessment of thermal performance of gypsum-based composites with revalorized graphite filler

Construction and Building Materials, 2017
Abstract European standards place great emphasis on the reintroduction of waste in the production chain. In this research, a combination of experimental tests has been carried out to analyse the use of revalorized isostatic graphite powder waste in gypsum-based boards.

A novel gypsum-based lightweight composite: a combined investigation of technical and self-cleaning properties

Journal of the Australian Ceramic Society, 2022
In recent years, the focus in building facades has been on the development of self-cleaning ability in building environments for environmental remediation. However, other technical properties must not deteriorate in order to gain self-cleaning ability.

Experimental determination of mechanical parameters for damage modeling of gypsum-based composites

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
The fracture behavior of ternary gypsum-lime-silica fume composites was investigated. The fracture energy of ternary paste and ternary mortar was determined by the means of three-point bend test on notched beam. The results show, that the gypsum-based paste is more brittle than gypsum–based mortar.
